KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Chiefs are the only undefeated team in the NFL, with a record of 7-0 that continues to motivate the fan base.
There is no doubt the players are equally excited, and one of those athletes gave servers at Fogo de Chao in Kansas City even more of a reason to celebrate Sunday night.
Joshua Roan has been serving Tamba Hali and his family for at the restaurant for years. He said Hali’s favorite dish is chicken with no bacon, and admitted that although the establishment prides itself on five-star service, Hali is easy to please.
"He doesn't really have any special requests, just as long as the kids are fed first," Roan said.
The popular linebacker always has his little girl with him too, according to Roan.
"She's hilarious, she always gets one soda, she doesn't get more soda, and she always gets one scoop of ice cream," he said.
The linebacker, along with friends and family, came in for dinner after the Chiefs went head-to-head against the Texans on Sunday.
The dinner went as usual, until the end. Roan said he never checks a tip until the end of the night, and this time he was in for quite a surprise.
“I thought it was a typo, and then I saw the signature and it was clear as day, and I was like ok, well, that is very nice," Roan recalled.
A photo of the signed receipt started to circulate on Twitter by Monday, although no one knows who took the original photo.
The signed receipt showed a total of $1,827.09 with a gratuity of $296.69 already included. In a second line meant for an additional tip, the player graciously penciled in another $1,000 making the total $2,827.09.
Roan said that is the biggest tip he has ever seen at the restaurant in the three years he has worked there.
Although there were 12 servers who split the tip, they all agree it was definitely something worth cheering about.
"He was the last guest here, so once he left everybody was just going nuts," Roan said.
