He can't play late in the year. Look at his game by game stats for the last 5+ years now and look at how steep of a decline there is around Thanksgiving every year. I crunched the numbers a few months ago but don't have the data on hand. Either way, it shows pretty clearly his age really starts to catch up with him after a few months of play every year. I mean its a really noticeable drop-off in performance every year starting around the week before or after Thanksgiving. Awful TD:INT ratio, and completion percentage. Plus, just as a guy who has watched him for most of their life, it's been noticeable just watching him play real late in the year, over these past several years.

Steelers should sign Favre, play him the first 10 games, then switch to Roflburger for the final 6 and playoffs.

Thus = Perfect Season in Pittsburgh

I never mind guys who hold on too long or try to play for as long as they can. But Favre has turned into a woman with his BS interviews and clinging to the spotlight. Big difference between loving the game , chasing a record , and what Favre is doing. I dont recall Bruce Smith or Jerry Rice ((the ultimate primadonna)) hemming and hawing every off season blatantly lying in interviews hoping to put his name in headlines.

while wear and tear has an affect on his play, i think truly he just can't play late in the year when its cold. look at the nfc championship where eli outplayed him in the cold. he's not a young buck anymore and that cold starts to affect him more.

now if the vikings signed him he'd play 2 cold weather location games the entire months of November and December. (GB Nov. 1st & CHI Dec Dec 28th)

I think he'd be able to finish the season a bit stronger by playing inside a dome, but then again he sucks ass in a dome.

either way, i got kinda stoked to see him sign with the vikes last year, this year i'm not expecting anything to happen. But if it does...vikings win the nfc north w/o a doubt in my opinion.
