The Colorado Avalanche have signed free agent winger PA Parenteau to a four-year $16 million contract.
Parenteau is coming off an 18-goal, 67-point season with the New York Islanders. The 29-year-old broke out with the Islanders two seasons ago after spending most of his career in the AHL beforehand.
In three NHL seasons, Parenteau has 41 goals and 129 points. The former ninth-round draft pick scored 20 goals in 2010-11.

Great move for the Avs to add someone to their top six. I was hoping the Caps would look at Parenteau is an option, potentially to pair with Ovechkin and Backstrom.
