Reading an article by a typically shitty writer on yahoo, but actually found an interesting comparison that doesn't really predict anything, but still was interesting.

Concussions aren't fun, I've had 2 in the same game and was a mess for a couple weeks and have had after effects ever since.

Is he ever going to be the same? Is he one or two hits away from not playing again?

Hard to really guess since he's not played again yet, but the precedence is certainly there. Heck, look at Marc Savard, he's NEVER going to be the same again....if he can even get on the ice that is.

Would certainly be a travesty to the game if Player B is forever changed.

I think he will easily bounce back. The thing is, you got to know they are taking every precaution with him because he is "the face". Now if it happens again, then something might happen, but I would honestly be surprised if not every NHLer has had come kind of concussion in their career just because of the hitting.

I've read enough articles on "player B" lately, as the Hockey News compared him to The great one. And the thing that was pointed out was that everyone said Player B was the most fit and most determined player. He wored his ass off more then anyone. So I will say he comes back just as good as before. This is the same guy who a few years back, got hurt for a good chunk of season near the end, and came back in the playoffs and tore it up.

You don't know he will, you have no basis that suggests it other than believing that it's not possible. You obviously don't understand a brain injury as you try and relate it to a physical body injury, it's just nowhere near the same. You can't do much of anything because your brain is in a permanent state of "headache" to the point where you puke or blackout if you push it even the slightest.

I highly doubt as many players have concussions as you suggest, nowhere near I'm sure. Being physically fit really doesn't mean shit in this situation, when your brain hits your skull it's a completely different scenario.

Physical body injuries can heal 100%, brain injuries often do not. He will be much more susceptible to these going forward, he will absolutely have the fear in his mind because this is a life threatening injury, or at the very least could give him crippling long term effects.

I don't believe for a second he's going to be the exact same player, but just how much different I don't know yet. I will say you will never see him drop the gloves again, that's for sure.

I'd not be surprised if he's not in the lineup till after the trade deadline, if that.

Its definitely not an injury that you play around with, ive only sustained a mild one and from that alone I can tell you its difficult to even function normally without pain, nevermind go out and play hockey. I think that if they werent being extremely cautious there is a chance that Syd would be playing already, but this is not something they're taking any chances with. And hopefully with being cautious they can avoid it being a long term problem as it was with Lindros.

How it effects him mentally as a player is a different issue.. after he sustained the first one he had enough nerve to get back on the ice (altho it may have been because he didnt appreciate the extent of it), so if I base it on that he SHOULD be able to escape the mental road blocks, but you can never know for sure. It'd be a real shame if this effected him long term.

This is his first concussion and it is being called a mild-concussion. With that being said, I do not think he is going to drop in any sort of length. This is the best player in the world, period. I don't care if he never drops the gloves again, because Crosby is judged by how many points he puts on the board. He was on a record season and even though it is cut short, I don't see him slowing down.

Yes, having one concussion opens the door to others in the future. It is why you do see a lot of people who have it once, get it 4+ times more. But is it going to turn him from the best in the world to no better then a 3rd liner? No.

No one has any basis for anything. You don't, I don't, no one can tell how he will come back. I can only go by the player and what he has done in the past. And sorry, you can only judge him off physical injuries. Yes brain injuries are more serious in the sports world, and it is why headshots are being talked about so much. (The 'hit' on crosby at Winter Classic was a fluke as well, fuck media and saying it was a headshot)

I just have to look at his mental condition. If anyone is going to bounce back from something like, I don't know a person who wouldn't put their money on Crosby. I'd still take a concussion slowed down Crosby over half the guys in the game today.

Plus I also think it is just getting blown out of the water because it is Crosby. The face of the game. If it was anyone else, we wouldn't even be talking about it.

TSN has speculated he's done till at least march, possibly for the rest of the season. Although at this point it seems like no one really knows what is going on. Even Bylsma doesn't know.

Will be interesting to see what the pens do. If they keep tanking like they are it might be better to keep him out until next season to avoid a situation like Savard. If they do they could put both Malkin and Crosby on LTIR and that would free up close to 16+mil in cap space.

A report was posted that Crosby may not be ready but the Penguins deny it.

Translation: He's still suffering effects but isn't unable to do his summer training.
