Covers that are more well known than the original but you still prefer the original?

I know I'm in the minority probably, but I prefer Otis Redding's original recording of "Respect" over Aretha's iconic rendition. Are there any other examples where a cover recording has overshadowed the original version, but you still like the original better?

That's the first thing that came to mind for me. I'm biased though, cause I think All Along The Watchtower is the perfect example of great lyrics. Hendrix's version kind of takes away from them.


Also I think Joe Crockers version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" may be more popular because of Wonder Years. They always play that version on one of those TV music stations instead of the original, shit sucks.

That's funny because I've heard the opposite said, that Dylan's lyrics are nonsensical and Hendrix's style helps mask that.

I like both versions but Hendrixes is the choice for me.
