Good point with Jackson's camp, his fighters definitely fight extremely cautious and don't get after it. Not surprised the Brock and Mir announcement didn't receive a good response either. They fought twice already and neither were good fights.

It's the only option. There are no other heavyweights available (Carwin is a no, Mir apparently is off) unless we're talking about guys like Kongo or Cro Cop.

Yeah, Dana throwing away Brock/Muuur III based on internet geeks is stupid, and not typical of how Dana usually does things.

This reminds me of how all of the internet geeks attacked Dana for doing the two Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock fights. "Nobody wants to see Tito vs. Ken" was the internet war cry.

Both fights broke all kinds of records for total viewers and PPV.

Internet hardcores are a TINY percentage of fans, you should never ever listen to the internet hardcores. If Dana booked the way the internet wanted to, he'd be out of business in a year.

Muuuur is OBSESSED with Brock, and Brock hates Muuur's guts. It's a great dynamic. Plus it's 1-1. Why wouldnt anyone want to see it? Put a great lighter weight title fight in the semi main, and add one or two more good matchups, and you have a great card that will do great business.

Dana has talked a lot about putting on fights the fans want to see. Listening to them for matchup purposes is entirely different than not merging the WEC because people on the net say it won't be a good thing.

It wouldn't be the first time he has talked about fan response about a particular matchup, but it could also be code for 'Brock doesn't want the fight'.

It's all fabricated though, this isn't a Wand vs Rampage type of rivalry. Plus, neither fight was competitive and the third most likely wouldn't be either. I think people are tired of immediate rematches and with the division being as deep as it is there's no need for it. Also, both fighters were unimpressive in their last performances.

I think there's more than just Big Nog out there. The fight likely wouldn't be right away. But, at least with Nog you have a fighter that a lot of fans are heavily vested in. Not to sound like an ass, but if Mir drops another important fight I don't think many mma fans would be heart broke about it. On the flip side you have Nog who I'm sure a lot of fans would really love to see get back on track, and going against a tough and dynamic opponent in Lesnar would certainly make for an interesting fight.

I'm willing to bet all of the numbers are pretty similar. Brock is pulling a mil no matter who he faces, he doesn't need Mir to sell the fight.

I don't think it's fabricated. Maybe on Muuur's side, when it comes to his promos, but Muuur definately has an obsession with beating Brock. And Brock clearly hates Muuur, that is not a work. Muuur is the only fighter that brings out the "heel" gimmick in Brock, which in hidnsight, makes you wonder if it was really a gimmick. Brock is repsectful to every other opponent. I've seen quotes from many people who know Brock who say he genuinly dislikes Muur.

I think your point about people thinking the fight not being competitive is legit. Hardcores hate Brock, and want to see him face people that can beat him, and I don't think anyone feels Muuur can get the job done.

Nog vs. Brock would definately be a great hardcore fight for the reasons you mention. Anything with Brock willl sell, but this fight would do 25% less than a Muuur fight, and would probably be Brock's first sub 1M buy PPV in a long time.

Mir has publicly said he would rather Brock win a fight before they fight again.
