Daniel Day Lewis to play Abe Lincoln in Spielberg's Movie

Steven Spielberg's planned Abraham Lincoln biopic was thought all but dead, especially with the news that he'd follow-up WAR HORSE with ROBOPOCALYPSE but Mr. Spielberg is feeling a little extra motivation and has committed to directing LINCOLN in late-2011 after he wraps on ROBOPOCALYPSE. What's more? He's snagged the notoriously choosy Daniel Day-Lewis to star as his Abraham Lincoln.

Said Spielberg, "Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema's distant future. I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with LINCOLN."

Said Day-Lewis, "..." Yeah, he didn't comment.

The script, from Tony Kushner, is based on the book "Team of Rivals" by presidential historian and all around sexy lady Doris Kearns Goodwin. Disney will release the DreamWorks film through their Touchstone Pictures label in 2012.

Its a movie based on a book. The book hasn't even come out yet though so its kind of weird its already got a movie deal.

What Im more concerned with is him being lax letting Michael Bay screw up another Transformers movie. He cant have that dude have free reign again. Hopefully he keeps him in check and forces someone else to edit.

Long dialogue about feelings and nothingness are where oscars are won.

Only DDL movie I recall was Gangs of NY. Great acting in an overly long movie. Again...in desperate need of better editing. But DDL was good.

Leonardo DiCaprio. He has zero range. He is becoming Denzel Washington, all of his characters are acted out almost identically.

People may not like DDL, but he can do just about any character in the book.

I love when people complain about an actor like Denzel or Leo only playing himself ... That's kind of what being a movie star is all about.

I'm not complaining about him. Honestly, I like most Denzel and Leo movies, but they aren't exactly the greatest actors like people make them out to be. Are they good at what they do? Definitely, but they don't exactly branch out with their roles. DDL at least takes risks with the roles he takes.

Casting nothing but short people around him should help also, plus the way they shoot it. Unless you watch a movie and notice that Tom Cruise or Mel Gibson is a borderline midget.
