David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

An American adaptation of Stieg Larsson's trilogy. It is not a remake of the Swedish films, just another adaptation of the books.

David Fincher is hands down the best choice to direct this movie. The cast is coming together well and looks like this -

Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist
Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander
Stellan Sarsgaard as Martin Vanger
Robin Wright (Penn) as Erika Berger

I plan on seeing the rest of the trilogy and reading at least the first novel in the series before this comes out next year.

I saw the first one (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and I fucking loved it. I suggest checking it out, I was pleasantly surprised.

i have the swedish film DL. i just havnt watched it yet. I cant stream it to my ps3 cause the subs are on a separate file which means i have to watch it on my PC.

Going to be a rare miss for Fincher.

Rooney Mara as Lisbeth, after seeing the lesbo d-bag Lisbeth that Noomi Rapace did, will be trash.

Also, Daniel Craig as Blumkvist also sounds like shit.

I am looking forward to seeing the remaining Swede versions, however, I don't think they'll be as good, considering Lisbeth goes into full on GI Joe hacker shizz in subsequent books.

slightly offtopic:
Speaking of American versions of very recently made Swedish films, I am pretty disappointed that they are remaking Let the Right One In. The original is great on its own and it seems pretty unfair that it's being Americanized right after the first one. Like Girl with the Dragon Tattoo it's being re-adapted from the book, but it's directed by the guy who directed Cloverfield and is going to aim for a mainstream audience and will probably suck.

Everything about the remake of Let The Right One In looks extremely solid. Have you looked at the images and or read up on it? Or are you judging solely on the fact that the Cloverfield is directing it? And Cloverfield was a pretty sweet movie.

I didn't like the trailer at all, I read an extensive interview with the studio head about the film and am not feeling it. I just don't see how it will improve on the original at all other than the fact that it will make more money for being in English.

edit: I didn't like Cloverfield.

I may be in the minority, but I thought "The Departed" was way better than "Infernal Affairs." Agree with the sentiment though.

I saw the first one and loved it. I am excited to see Fincher's adaptation. He has done some great work in the past adapting fiction to film (Fight Club, Benjamin Button).
