Who has the best shot of taking Jones out? In theory, Machida could beat him, he won round 1, styles make fights, Machida had a quality game plan

Rashad is faster standing, more technical striking and has really good wrestling, he can make a fight of it

Hendo always has a punchers chance, HBOMB

No. The greatest year for someone his age, without a doubt, but not overall. He beat some top tier opponents, but no one we didn't expect him to beat.

He beat a one-dimensional Rampage. A Rampage who barely beat Keith Jardine and Matt Hamill and lost to Forest Griffin and Rashad Evans. I love Rampage, but he doesn't fight as dynamically as he did in Pride. He's still a tough guy to beat, but really let's be honest, we all know Rampage's current style makes for a tailored made opponent against a guy like Jones.

He beat Shogun who has never been able to get into a rhythm due to injury and Machida who's rather inconsistent and lacks the wrestling to beat Jones.

Before we say it's the Jon Jones era, there are two extremely tough matchups for him out there against Hendo and Rashad.

I think Jones can be beat, just like every other fighter, Machida staggered him, those type of shots result in KO's, MMA is to wide open not to get hit or leave an opening for a sub

High level boxers will go multiple fights in a row and never even get staggered, it's a different animal because of the rules

Fedor's run could have ended years ago with by fujita standing of all people, I can easily see Jones get clipped by a Rashad or Hendo and thats a wrap

GSP doesn't owe anybody shit, though. He's a WW, and not a really big one. If anything, moving down would be a more reasonable option. He dominates his division and should not be pressured to take a fight against a guy so much bigger than him because of it. I hate that mindset.

Isnt Jones run more of a 6 month span ?

My old order of guys who could beat Jones
1. Rashad...that time may have passed. Jones has improved has already been "shocked" and won. Is faster , more KO power , but the ground game and how he handles the reach is an unknown to anyone outside that gym. They must have really gotten at each other for both to avoid each other the way they have.

2. Machida- Had the elusiveness , power , and timing...completely outmatched on ground.

3. Phil Davis- Nowhere near the standup of the other two ..can match the athleticism but not the reach. Only he OR rashad will get a shot.


Hendo surprised the shit out of me by beating shogun. But I still think he lacks the footwork to beat Jones. All it takes is one shot though.

The point, is GSP fights in a different weight class than Silva, so this idea that he should move up to fight him just because he dominates his division is the fan mindset that I don't agree with. Why should he move up? He's a WW fighter, that's that. Plus Silva is a gigantic MW and GSP is on the smaller side for a WW, but we've been over that before. They aren't even close to being comparable sizes.
