I like 1-3, but don't like 3. It's funny that people are saying Detroit needs more D as they are considering shipping out their best perimeter defender.

Tayshaun is so inconsistent though. Im not sure how any Piston fan could argue with finally letting him go. Dude irritates the hell out of me because he is so goddamn timid on both ends of the floor.

I would love it if all of those deals go down.

Tayshaun may be inconsistent, but I'll take his range from average to fantastic on D over some of our recent signings whose range is from poor to below average on D.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Detroit is a grind it out team. Trying to make it into something it isn't will only fail.

The players determine the type of team you are, not the city. It will be nice to not have so many games where we go 6 mins at a time without a FG.

I could argue that Id take a player with a range from average to fantastic on O over a guy who has proven that he cannot even maintain an average level of play on offense. At times it just seemed as if he didnt even WANT the ball, and after this long its obvious that isnt going to change.

Im just glad Joe Dumars is shaking things up. We have sat with the same nucleus of players for years and have nothing to show for it since 2004. Whats the worst that can happen? We barely made the playoffs, and didnt win a game in the postseason last year with these guys. They obviously arent the answer.

Dumars is smart he knows that rebuilding means making moves now and not waiting on 2010. He's doing what he can with what pieces he has left. Believe if Sheed was still in town he would be the first out the door. Think of what Detroit could of pried away from Boston for Sheed? Dumars is pulling the trigger now, I wish Danny Ferry would learn from this guy.

collins has dropped out according to espn...

stuckey is more of a scoring guard....and he doesnt have Larry Brown to transform him into a stellar PG like Billups did

ROFL? Who the hell is Villanueva going to guard starting at the 3? Boozer is an average defender and Chandler only looks good on backside blocking . Hes actually pretty bad when it comes to 1 on 1 manning up

With all of Rip's positives, here's why you trade him.

Value.

Rip Hamilton is a huge piece to any team looking to improve. He automatically increases the potential of any team he touches, he's that good at what he does. Teams would kill for a guy like Rip. His work ethic also exceeds anything he does on the court, there's nothing but positives when it comes to his game. His age is the only knock against him.

Rip is on the wrong side of 30. He's 32 in February, meaning he has a couple years left in him. He'll want to play for a contender, and Detroit will want youth in return. It will be tough to find the right value both ways and at first glimpse. The Pistons will look like their giving away Rip for nothing. If they can turn a trade with draft picks and or younger stars the Pistons make out better in the 3-5 year run.

Guys need to stop knocking down Stuckey. It was the guys 1st full season sarting at PG and only his 2nd year in the league. You cant expect the kid to turn into a star PG overnight. it takes time and proper coaching which is why Curry had to go.

I mean, Boozer and Villanueva as your froncourt? Me and Buzzman would be better off defensively than them. Dumars isnt that dumb, he would never go with that frontcourt.

Chander makes perfect sense. I say go that direction. Those others simply dont work for the PIstons.

I realize Prince or Rip may be traded, but Prince has higher value then Rip. So you keep Rip, trade Prince. WIth RIp, we have a great bench (Gordon). Rip is actually good in the playoffs, he ups his averaged by 5 points. Prince is a horrible postseason player and has been for the past 3 seasons.

Chandler is a bad 1 to 1 defender , all he is good at is backside defense which requires a PF who can man up 1 on 1 like West does in NO.

He is pretty good at guarding the hoop when someone is beat off the dribble, which is what Detroit would want out of him. 1 on 1 defenders (especially in the post) are a rarity in the league, and if you cant get one of the few that are good at it should you just forget about getting what you can? I actually think Tyson would help more than a guy who can man up in the post. There's going to be a lot of people flying past Ben Gordon, Stuckey, and Charlie V., and Tyson is a guy who can come over and help on the play and block some shots.

Dont get me wrong hes not a bad player . I honestly just think that hes wasted without a PF who can do alot of the dirty work for him . He is actually quite soft under the basket at times and is in NO WAY a bruiser/intimidater .

And i wasnt talking about blocking shots 1 on 1 when i mentioned good defense , I meant just playing hard on the inside , forcing misses and just generally good D.

In New Orleans David West is actually pretty soft himself so dont take this like im calling him good on d either but its no secret that he does alot of the dirty work on d for Chandler . I honestly dont think that Charlie can offer that at all .

Anyways hes better than what you have which isint saying much i just think hes quite an overated defender in general .

Like you say though , there isint alot of top defensive players around right now in terms of bigs so its not a bad deal for Detroit
