Important to remember: Lucasfilm is bigger than just Star Wars and Indiana Jones (two franchises already prominent with Disney parks, toys, etc)
 
So is Harrison Ford coming back? Hard to believe he'd be up for a trilogy at this point in his life.
 
I have a hard time seeing how Episode VII would shape up. I doubt they would want to start from scratch, but will Ford want to come back to Han? Not to mention all the other characters.
 
Maybe Disney will release a Star Wars blu ray box set with the theatrical releases for the original trilogy included.
 
As a huge Star Wars fan, this does hurt to see. I have no hopes for the sequel trilogy, but I'll end up watching all three definitely. Curious to see if they're gonna go the New Jedi Order route..
 
And we just thought that Lucas whored out Star Wars. Just wait until the cross promotion for these next films....

I could honestly see them doing something that stands alone (just like sandwiching a new novel between two different series.) The problem is that movies, especially in a deep universe like Star Wars, don't work like that.

If they want to cover to the "defeat" of the Empire, the first movie should be the Thrawn trilogy. It introduces the Alliance as the New Republic, introduces Karrde and Jade, Thrawn and Pellaeon. I just hope they don't deviate from what is there, but I think it will happen.
