I connect via the AV cable, and I switched the cable off my PS2, and it still wouldn't work. I used the cable off the PS3 to connect the PS2, and it worked fine on the PS2.

Try this:

Have PS3 in standby. Hold the power on button for about 8-10 seconds. See what happens. Resets to default and can work.
 
You know if you downloaded anything from the PS Store its tied to your account right? You have 5x to download anything you may have bought. So if you bought anything you're good.
