I never thought Vick would be allowed back in but I felt that after a while he did his time in the justice system and he deserved another shot.

Ray Rice apparently has dodged the law on this one in many peoples eyes but I don't remember if the public outrage is the same as it was for Vick.

So I was curious as to what you guys think on whether or not he should ever be allowed back in?


edit: My personal opinion is that he should be allowed back in time if he goes out of his way to show he is a changed man and he regrets his actions. He hired a PR firm just for this, so you know this is his plan.

edit2: I posed this question to my wife without telling her my opinion, and hers was exactly the same as mine. She thinks the whole thing was a coverup by the Ravens/NFL.
 
My opinion is based on what we know right now. As long as it doesn't come out that he'd been violent w/his women before, he should not lose his career for one time losing his control.

I think it's moot with him though. He plays a position heading for extinction. He will be 28 next season. That's 60 in RB years, a few carries from retirement. And after the NFL has been raked through the coals over how they handled him before, no team is going to risk the bad PR that will come if they sign him. He's not talented enough for them to risk the distraction for the team.
 
I feel he should be let back this year. Given the fact he has never been in trouble 6-8 games or so should be fair. Rice shouldn't loose his career because Goodell and the Ravens botched this.

Given that their new domestic violence suspends players for 6 games and then bans them indefinitely for a second offense, how/why the hell is he banned for life for his first offense?

Keep in mind this is from 2013...not even counting all the shit this year..a lot of these players are currently playing or are allowed to play in the NFL.

I think he should be allowed back after his suspension. No criminal charges filed as far as I'm aware, so it's a private matter. Let him serve his suspension and move on.
 
Donte Stallworth was and he killed someone....ironically the Ravens were the team that signed him after he was suspended for the 2009 season

If you aren't going to draw the line at a DUI manslaughter charge, I don't see how Rice doesn't get another shot
 
I wouldn't allow him back in, but as others have said, more serious offenses have happened and those players have been allowed in, and this was never a case put into the courts. There is also a person playing in the NFL arrested for child abuse. I definitely think he should be thrown out of the NFL, even before Rice.

As disgusted as I am by his actions, I have to agree with this path. Let him resume his career after the suspension is lifted and the shame follow him until he shows the public a good reason to forgive what he did.

I think this is marvelous irony. He wanted to make his name by cleaning up the league and punishing the thugs ruining the image. Here we are all these years later young , rich , alpha guys are still doing what they always did. So not only has he not solved the problem but he lost credibility with players years ago with his endless hypocrite moves with retirees and desire to add games now its culminating in this fiasco.
 
I do not condone what he did for a second, but it would be ridiculous to ban him for life. At the very least, let him show legit remorse and rehab.

Yes, but that case went to court and Wilkinson pleaded no contest. If Rice had gone to court and done the same, or even told the Ravens and the NFL that he knocked his wife out and been straight with them from the beginning, he would likely have had a longer suspension, but still a Baltimore Raven, likely one for the duration of his career and involved with them after.

If Rice had gone to court and done the same, or even told the Ravens and the NFL that he knocked his wife out and been straight with them from the beginning, he would likely have had a longer suspension, but still a Baltimore Raven, likely one for the duration of his career and involved with them after.

Simply banning Ray Rice from the NFL for life is too simplistic for me. Again, I don't for a second condone what he did, but I also don't condone Ray Rice or anyone and give them no chance for redemption.
 
The video will haunt him or any team that wants to sign him. Like it or not, we can make Vick out to be much worse, but there isn't a video of him killing a dog. The video of Rice hitting his wife basically damns any chance he has at a future career. Plus, being ancient in RB years makes him a very difficult person to sign.
