Dragon Gate "Prime Zone", debuts 1/10/2013

Interesting new project from Dragon Gate and their new 'Dragon Gate Studio'.

Following the lead of New Japan in trying to attract the english speaking audience, this new studio style show will have exclusive matches & english subtitles. It will cost roughly $10 per month.

The new PRIME ZONE project is being approached a bit differently. The roster members participating are being referred to as the "Cast" and the card is being referred to as the "Program". The cast for the first edition on 12/26 was announced today.

The PRIME ZONE website doesn't officially open until January 10th. The service will cost 1000jpy monthly. If you sign up before 12/20 you will get a bonus video when the site is properly open. Listen to our podcast from 12/2 for a sign up guide.

If nothing else, it looks interesting. The production values look great, as it appears to be shot in full HD with a slick graphics package. The studio looks intimate to say the least, and unless it's an optical illusion, the ring looks to be smaller than a standard DG ring.

I don't know what to make of this or if i'm willing to pay $10 per month when all of the Infinities are readily available for free. If they included the PPV shows that take forever to emerge (and sometimes never do), I would jump on this.

The bottom line, is it's great to see New Japan and now Dragon Gate expanding out of Japan and at least trying to give us access to their products.

They really need to make it free. Or, like ROH, offer a subscription package that gives you access to all of the shows, early...but they should have these shows available for free, at least a few of them at a time...

I won't pay for it...too much free wrestling available.
