It's sort of tough to compare and contrast QBs for their playoff success and figure out how they should be rewarded. Flacco is my QB, but no one in their right mind would rate him over Brees. You take Brees off of the Saints and they probably win 5 games.....this is the basis for him wanting to be paid. Flacco is probably worth about 2-3 wins.

Eh, I want to see how Flacco progresses this season, because they've wanted to air it out for some time so I want to see the progression of things. But Brees, unlike Flacco, has proven he can take over games and win with his arm, and not rely on a strong rushing attack combined with a great defense.

I'm not making a direct comparison between Brees & Flacco.

My point is that it's hard for me to believe Brees is the best QB in football (let alone the best player in football) when he has never won a road playoff game. This is amplified by the fact that it's easier than ever in a watered down league to win those types of games.

I really can't remember a time when the best player in the sport was actually the highest paid player. Maybe Manning for a year or 2 and Jordan in his final years in Chicago. IMO Brees isn't being paid because he is the best player in the league, but instead because without him the Saints would be horrible and his contract is up. It's a perfect storm for him.

Big time QB's win on the road in the postseason. He's been in the league for a decade and has never won a road playoff game. He's not on the level of people like Brady or Manning, who go on the road and rip your fucking heart out. But he is insisting on being paid like those guys.
