Trust me, it's not the higher ups that are preventing him from playing. Their goal this season was to have him play. That's been a total failure thus far.
The doctors have cleared him to play. They said the next step in his rehab is to play. He said he felt a twinge in his knee, then that was feeling better. Then he needed to dunk, then he was able to do it. Then it was God's Will, then he's needed to be 110% and now he needs muscle memory. None of this has been laid out by the team, these are Rose's words.
There is nobody in the Bulls organization that wants him to go against doctors orders and against the next step in rehab. That's on him and him only. There is no reason Reinsdorf, Forman, Paxson, Thibs or anyone on that bench doesn't want him to play.
As far as the "flow of the team", no, he's a god damn star. He's destroying these guys in practice. The NBA playoffs are always about talent. Granted Brooklyn had more talent but that's a rare case of a team just being awful for no reason. At the end of the day, you want your all-star and your MVP in the lineup. More than anything to give Nate Robinson and Jimmy Butler a break. Butler hasn't left a game in three days. He's played 48 each time out. Eventually these guys are going to hit a wall, especially matched up with LeBron.
In the end, he won't come back though but that's not up to the Bulls to make that decision for him. If he's going to go against doctors and stop his rehab, that's on him and him only.
