no surprise, but kind of disappointing because he had things heading the right way, just didnt have any players to execute his plan...which is partially his fault. Dont know what he was thinking with Robiskie and Massaqui

profound statements that 99% of nfl fans and media dont seem to understand. all they see is the here and now. They dont seem to understand that there is a reason the great teams dont have to rebuild. They lose a part and they just add a new one and the machine keeps moving along. Thats what Mangini was doing, and it was working.

That sucks, I don't get it at all. He knocked off a few really good teams this year and had his team in nearly every game.

NFL teams are way too trigger happy these days (except the Chargers).

Aside from Hillis and the defense on certain occasions, that squad was Bum City.

Of course like many seasons in the past, there are winning teams (like the Pats and pretty much any team that can stay above .500 on a consistant basis) and there are scrapheap squads (Cincy, Cleveland, Houston... to name a few :shifty: ).

Unfortunately, the state of Ohio will have to look towards collegiate football to have any semblance of a winner these days...

holmgren doing his press conference. Says he is ruling himself out as a candidate. when asked about his comments earlier this year and when hired about the potential of coming back as a coach he said it was blown out of proportion and at that time he didnt know what it would be like to be president and not be a coach on the field. He also was asked about if he doesnt coach now then when, being that he is 62 he said....u just answered your own question....basically his follow up to that was that he is getting old and that he was hired to be president and he has grown into the job.

he wouldnt discuss candidates at all only saying that they are following league rules and have sent out requests to talk to people. He was asked specifically about gruden and jon fox being candidates and he wouldnt say no. He also gave no timeline for hiring but said sooner than later and the playoffs being the only hold up right now.

its funny how espn focusing on the part of the press conference with holmgren talking about the possibility of coming back. holmgren seemed very honest about his thoughts and even talked about his new found relationship with his wife since leaving the sidelines. But espn is trying to create the illusion of a story when its pretty clear there isnt one. Sure that could change as holmgren even said, but u could tell that he knows his coaching days are over.

He is a CT guy. Went to high school as well as college here. I would assume that if he goes the college route that Uconn is a possibility.
