Wedge plans on putting Chone Figgins at the leadoff spot next season. Tremendous idea.

Anyway, it should be Ackley leading off. He had one more walk than Ichiro in half the plate appearances. Meanwhile Figgins drew a robust 21 free passes in a similar amount of PAs to Ackley, sporting a nice .241 OBP.

Whether they have many options or not, Figgins represents their worst option.

Figgins did see around 4.10 pitchers per plate appearance which is pretty solid especially compared with Ichiro's 3.51. The point remains Ackley may be a better option (4.19) but Wedge probably thinks he has more power and run-producing ability later in the lineup.
