I never really liked the guy, but I respected him as a player. Enough is enough now though. He's the very definition of a media-whore.

Well, Favre most likely wants to end this on his own terms. He was basically forced to play for the Jets or nobody in '08. It is now well-documented that Favre preferred Tampa to New York, however, Thompson refused to return Bruce Allen's calls and never had any intention of sending Favre to Tampa.

I say let the man play. The Vikings have 10 games indoors this season. Give him that fast track and those skill players and the man can still put up big numbers. The only real bad weather game he will likely have to deal with is @ Chicago in late December.

Everyone hates on Favre becauses he gets all this media attention. So he wants to come back, so what. There's nothing wrong with wanting to come back. People are only sick of him because of how the media exaggerates everything. Favre has earned the right to come back whenever he pleases. If he gets a starting job, so be it. He's not ruining his career in any way. He'll always be remembered as the franchise player of the Green Bay Packers. Not the one year run in NY or MIN. He makes MIN a better team, so there is no doubt Childress is talking to him as much as possible.

I read that there were unconfirmed reports from the Jets front office that Favre asked for his release right after he retired (again) in February and then after the draft last weekend. Those sources said that they didn't want the drama of a possible Favre return to overshadow Sanchez's training camp and that it would be better to release him and avoid that risk than keep him and try to trade him for a mid round pick if he chose to come back.

If Favre is really meeting with Childress, then you can look for him to be back on the field this season wearing the purple and white. Even I can not believe this...

It's possible Bus Cook was just campaigning for Favre's release. Favre is likely a big source of money for Cook and if Cook can keep Favre believing he can play and open the doors for teams to let him play then it makes sense he'd go out of his way to get the Jets to release him or something.

So is Jay Cutler. Bus Cook will continue to represent Favre after his playing days and I doubt that Favre will not be able to earn money when he isn't playing.

You earn the right to unretire the first time you cry like a baby at your press conference, MAYBE the 2nd time you cry at your press conference, but not the 3rd and 4th time. Then at that point you're over-leveraging the team. The Packers were left two consecutive offseasons to wonder if he's coming back or if he's not. I don't believe it's right to do that to an organization. Or to a player like AR.

I agreed. The first time he came back, I said so what? But I can only stand so many teary eyed "walk away from the game i love" retirements before enough is enough.

I guess since I just look at the news tidbits like a bullet point or this thread that says "Favre returning to Vikings," and then not pay attention to anything else about it makes me not feel any resentment/anger/annoyance towards Favre hah.

So I can't wait to see how he does with Minnesota, I think it'll be a great fit with A.P. and Harvin.

There wasn't even a press conference this year to announce his retirement, I think a statement was released by the team. Not excusing the drama of prior years but let's keep the record straight on what has happened recently.
