CALGARY, Alberta (AP)—The Calgary Flames have dropped the interim tag and promoted Jay Feaster to general manager.
The team announced the move Monday at a news conference at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Feaster also confirmed that the Flames and forward Curtis Glencross(notes) have agreed to a $10.2 million, four-year contract.
Calgary hired Feaster last summer as assistant general manager to Darryl Sutter. Feaster took over as interim GM on Dec. 28 when Sutter resigned.
Calgary finished out of the playoffs for the second straight year with a 41-29-12 record this past season.
Feaster was Tampa Bay’s general manager when the Lightning beat Calgary in seven games to win the Stanley Cup in 2004.

I'm glad to see Feaster getting another chance as a GM, but he has a long, uphill battle with the Flames. They are an overpaid, underachieving roster which does not have a lot of young talent in the system right now, and I do not envy his off-season. We could see some of their big names getting moved this off-season.
