You are arguing Aoki, a guy who got has fought 3 fights this year and lost one in HORRIBLY UGLY fashion should be fighter of the year? Maybe if the Melendez fight was close, but Aoki looked like an absolute joke in that match.
 
Oh, and how funny would it be if SF won the award for Submission of the Year for Werdum over Fedor? I'm sure they'd love getting an award for a submission that effectively sank their biggest possible pay day.

Aoki fought two Top 10 LWs back-to-back and will probably re-match with Melendez at the NYE show, Joe Warren has fought four times this year and rolled in the Bellator FW Tournament, and Omigawa is continuing is 2009 run and tooled his last three opponents. I'm not saying Aoki or Omigawa should win or be complete locks, but I fully believe Joe Warren has done more than enough to be considered.

And Tate/Akano was a great fight, Mamba, female fighters be damned.
 
No way Aoki should be in the FOTY category. He lost in horrible fashion to Melendez (whether Gilbert is awesome or not).

Misaki vs Santiago is easily fight of the year, KZ vs Garcia was a slop fest

Noons vs Huen was better than these fights listed, so many other good ones also
 
yea Aoki is 2-1 on the year and his last fight was kinda dull. Joe Warren is a great prospect, but you're not going to get FOTY being in Bellator. Omigawa had a solid year, but who do you take off the list in favor of him? I don't see how he would replace any of those guys.

How are we judging the subs? In terms of the significance of the victory, or the technicality/impressive factor?

Fedor pretty much threw himself into the sub, so the sub itself wasn't that impressive aside from the fact that it's Werdum beating Fedor. So it all depends on how you're looking at it.
 
No mention of Warren or Askren for breakthrough fighter or the year? What about Feijao?

No Kaufman for KO of the year? It made it on sports center

Watching most of these live, I was amazed by the Werdum sub. On the other hand, I was clinically dead for 32 seconds following the Silva sub. I'm a huge Silva fan, but I went from giving up all hope in life to running around Hooters and giving everyone I could find a high five after that triangle/arm bar.

One could definitely argue both and I am definitely biased. I think that category is a two horse race.

For sub of the year, for significance it would be Werdum

This should be on the list for Sub of the year, Ninja Choke
