I am joining my old HS coaching staff this year to help out with the defensive backs and would eventually like to learn enough to someday head coach.

Have any of you read/found any football coaching books that are pretty in depth and complex regarding OLine blocking and schemes?

I know the basics and have found some solid books that are helping me brush up on my knowledge about the game but they are pretty vanilla for the most part. I played DB in high school and college so never really learned much about offensive line blocking/schemes especially at the HS and college level.

Also got me thinking about another topic, what is your favorite football book of all time? The two that come to mind right off the top of my head are Bleachers and Friday Night Lights. I can't even remember if I've read any others to be honest.
 
I'm reading the book Bringing the Heat which is about the Eagles under Buddy Ryan and Rich Kotite from '86-94 (not by choice particularly, my EAgles fan brother has bugged and bugged for me to read it). It's a good book so far first chapter about Jerome Brown was phenomenal.

Don't know any other in depth books about coaching and schemes and I think the only other football book I read was the Wellington Mara bio.
 
Not about X's and O's but I really enjoyed a book called "Every Week a Season" which is all about college coaching. Every chapter is about a different program and it focuses on their weekly preparations in season. Definitely worth a read.

really enjoyed Friday Night Lights. The Last Coach by Allen Barra is another good one, its a biography on Bear Bryant, one of my favorite football books.

"Cane Mutiny" by Bruce Feldman (haven't read his other book, "Meat Market" but I hear that's good too.)
"It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium" by former LSU player turned writer John Ed Bradley

Forgot about Cane Mutiny, great book that I read in a couple days tops, and I am the type of reader that has a lot of trouble getting sucked into books right away.

I'm sure it was biased and sugar coated a bit by the author since it is from his POV and everyone else looks like the bad guy except for him but it's still worth a read.

In Monte Sereno, off Winchester Blvd. Where did you teach and how long ago?

And yeah same league as Palo Alto. When I was in HS we were in the middle of a year win streak over Palo Alto but they have been on a tear as of late. Crushed Los Gatos 41-0 this past season.
