Playing franchise mode has always been my favorite part of sports games. I started a Brewer franchise today and played the first game, against the Giants.

It was a battle between two of the best young pitchers in baseball, Lincecum and Gallardo. However Lincecum didn't exactly live up to his Cy Young performance last year. He only pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 runs. I was playing on Pro difficulty because I struggled with hitting in the demo (zero homeruns in 12+ innings). That changed against the Giants, after Lincecum gave up 2 home runs, the Giants went to there bullpen; which was a very bad move. I scored 13 runs, on 24 hits, including 6 homeruns.

The top of my batting order was insane:
Rickie Weeks: Hit for the cycle.
JJ Hardy: 6/6 hitting.
Ryan Braun: Two Homeruns
Prince Fielder: Two Homeruns

I think it's time to go to All Pro.

Gallardo was solid, he pitched 6 innings and gave up two runs. He only pitched 50 some pitches though. The computer is way to aggresive with its hitting.

Final score: 13-2.


So how is everyone else doing with their franchises?

That's how I stated out when I was playing the demo, and even today just playing a practice game. But you get better, don't worry.

Goblin try using the zone hitting feature. It makes it so much more realistic but it is very hard when you first start.

Are you refering to the thing where you use the left stick?

yeah, where you use the right stick to swing, and you can use the left stick to control if it is hit on the ground or in the air, and/or if it is hit to the left or the right.

You can change it to the new feature where you pretty much have to aim your bat at the ball. It is much more realistic but very challenging.

I played two games with the Mets in franchise, first game on Pro (way to easy hit 6 solo homers) and the second on All-pro (or whatever its called). The All-Pro game turned out pretty good. I won 5-3, my bullpen was a little shaky, Putz and K-Rod gave up a run a piece.

Funny thing is I can't hit Fastballs for shit but the off-speed I crush.

I played a second game on all pro, I won 7-4 (no homeruns this time, but I still had 13 hits). Manny Para was doing decent as my starting pitcher, but he was injured in the fifth inning after giving up 3 runs. After the game I found out he has a torn rotator cuff, and he's out for 120+ days.

Looks like Chris Capuano is back in Milwaukee...

Ok apparently, If a player gets hurt and is placed on the DL, he still is on your active 25 man roster, so you can't call up another player from AAA to replace him.

I am going to wait till the MLB season officially starts before doing my franchise.
