Fred Taylor joins the Patriots backfield

Patriots agreed to terms with RB Fred Taylor on an undisclosed contract.

Bill Belichick likes hungry veterans who are desperate for a championship. Taylor is not that useful on third downs or short-yardage, but he's a threat to steal early down carries from Laurence Maroney and company. With that said, Taylor won't be guaranteed any role and the Patriots will be careful with his carries.

Arguably the 2 best raw talents at there position this Gen ((Moss/Taylor)). Too bad its about a decade too late.

He should add alot of depth to that Pat offense.

Great fit for both Taylor and the Pats orginization. As a Jets fan I don't like to see it happen but if the Pats go on to win the whole thing I'll be happy for Taylor. Always liked to watch him play. BB will get the most out of him.

He'll get the most out of what he's got left. Granted Fred Taylor is probably better than 40% of the running backs in the NFL, he is beaten, battered and bruised. I don't see him getting over 700 yards rushing if he has to split carries with Maroney and be in the Spread Pass offense of the Pats. Still rooting for him though.

I think this is a good move, but i've heard that when Fred Taylor woke up this morning, the rumors that he was going to New England was already out there.

I think it'll happen, but i haven't read anywhere that the Patriots have confirmed it, because Taylor definitely hasn't.

It's a good move, maybe he'll be a mentor for the young backs in NE.

I can't see Chauncey Washington being a secondary back either. Maybe we'll let Greg Jones get some carries and have Montell Owens play FB a little.

Yeah we're a force when everyone is healthy and playing, unfournately that only last for the first 2 and if we're lucky maybe 3 games.

I heard Slaton was pretty good, I couldn't watch any of our games this past season. A steady RB is a huge positive, then Andre is always beastly, we only need a consistent QB.
