CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A police report is shedding new light about an alleged assault inside the home of Carolina Panthers' Greg Hardy on Tuesday.
Hardy, 25, was arrested on Tuesday morning after police were sent to his uptown Charlotte apartment for a domestic violence call.
Hardy, whose full name is Gregory McKarl Hardy, was charged with assault on a female and communicating threats, according to Charlotte police.
A 24-year-old woman told officers she had been physically assaulted and threatened by Hardy inside his home along the 100-block of North Tryon Street.
The woman told officers she was thrown to the floor and bath tub several times during the attack. She said he threatened to kill her while she was being assaulted.
The arrest warrant alleges that Hardy grabbed his girlfriend and threw her to the floor and into a bathtub before slamming her against a futon and strangling her.
According to the report, the woman had minor injuries, but refused treatment from emergency crews.
She told police she had been in a relationship with Hardy since September of 2013.
Hardy is a defensive end with the Carolina Panthers, known to many Panthers fans as "Da Kraken."
Hardy turned himself in on Tuesday and was held in the Mecklenburg County Jail overnight.
He made a first appearance before a judge on Wednesday morning. He appeared in a jail-issued orange prisoner jumpsuit.
Hardy's lawyer says he called 911 on Tuesday morning to have the accuser removed from his apartment.
The woman's lawyer says she is scared.
A judge ruled that Hardy would have to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings three times a week as a part of his release.
The public police report lists alcohol as an "incapacity" for the victim, but does not mention alcohol for Hardy.
Hardy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was in court on Wednesday morning but refused to comment on the case.
The Carolina Panthers released a statement saying "We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate."
Hardy signed the team's franchise tag tender in March and will make $13.116 million this season if he doesn't sign an extension before July 15.
"I'm a big Panthers fan and I feel like what you do behind closed doors is your own" said Katie Hildebrand. "However, you represent an organization. You represent the city of Charlotte and you need to be a role model."
Hildebrand said "I'm not okay with that type of behavior."
While Hardy's agent Drew Rosenhaus declined comment, some Panthers' fans are wondering how will the team react to Hardy's arrest.
The 25-year-old Hardy has 26 sacks over the past two seasons with the Panthers, including a franchise-tying 15 in 2013.
"Given that's he taking up most of our salary cap, I wasn't too happy about it cause he's the reason why we couldn't make many moves. So they gave him all this money and he goes out and acts like a fool" said Chris Goodnight.
Goodnight , a Panthers' fan, was in Romare Bearden Park where a photographer was snapping photographs of Goodnight and his soon-to-be-bride in Panthers gear.
He said when he heard about Hardy's arrest he became worried because "I know Mr. Richardson doesn't like that."
Goodnight said he thought "are we going to get rid of him now? I hope not. But all these things started going through my head."
