Grizzlies @ Spurs observations

I went to the Grizzlies @ Spurs game last night and for those of you that didn't watch or read about it....it was a hell of a game! The Spurs were coming off of a devastating loss to the Lakers the night before and couldn't afford to drop a game to the hot Grizzlies team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

It was evident from the start that Spurs were going to play much more physical than they did against the Lakers. The Spurs started off hot but Memphis fought back and took the lead late in the 2nd. Thankfully the Spurs were able to go on a little bit of a run and close the halftime deficit to just 4 points.

Once the 3rd started, the game became the TimVP and Manu show. Duncan is turning 36 this month but looked like he was 28 out on the floor. He imposed his will on the Grizzlies and they ultimately had to start doubling him. Once that happened, Manu took over and helped close the game out. Bonner looked good off of the bench kicking in a few 3's and some timely points when Memphis would try to make a run. Parker didn't provide a lot of scoring last night (or against the Lakers either) but he ran the offense well and there shouldn't be anything to worry about come playoff time.

I hope the Grizzlies either rise or fall in the standings. I do not want the Spurs to face them in the second round of the playoffs this year! Even though I think the Spurs could be them with a healthy Duncan and the current lineup, the Grizzlies are a very physical team and match up well with the Spurs.

Those seats were killer! You have to get through about 3 waves of security check points to get down to the floor but once you are down there you are free to walk all around the court when the ball isn't in play. You can actually hear the guys calling out plays and the atmosphere is totally different from the upper decks.

Like I said, I don't want any part of the Grizzlies until the later rounds. I think the Spurs can do it since Duncan is healthy this year and the team has the deepest bench in the league but the Grizzlies bring their lunch pail to the floor. The Spurs would be physically beat up at the end of that series and more likely to lose in the following round.

Sounds badass. When I get back from deployment next year Im definitely heading down to OKC for a playoff game. Their playoff atmosphere is straight up awesome

Those seats look dope as fuck. I've never sat close to an NBA game usually upper deck seats. Def would like to go to a game with seats like that sometime though
