LOL @ this nugget:
"There is no way that PPV (UFC 100) generated those numbers (1.7M buys). I know they were south of 1M[/B]"
Are you saying they are off by 700k +?
"Yeah. Who's to say? They aren't a public company, nobody knows...."
But Arum is right about one thing--the two sports have two very different audiences. He clearly understands who his base is these days--ethnic (hispanics, filipinos), and "his generation". They have not captured the younger generation (boxing, by far, has the highest viewer average age of all sports on televsion), and have lost the casual sports fan. The average boxing viewer also has one of the lowest average incomes in all of sports, making it hard to sell $50 ppv's.
These are the problems guys like Arum must tackle, not attacking MMA/UFC unprovoked. All the intreviewer did was ask how the big boxing vs. UFC 103 battle would do---fact is, PBF is going to destroy UFC 103, but Arum has to make sure he dosen't give PBF any credit either., so he missed his chance to really take a legit shot at Dana White.
Unfortunately for Arum, he's playing catch up to both PBF & UFC, so he comes off like the bitter old coot that his is.
