I like it. Sure, he's not ever going to be a franchise center, but he's our on-court leader and really plays the game with a championship level intensity. Likable guy, terrific defense and rebounding, and a really vocal locker room presence.

Decent deal, the only problem is the Hawks are pretty well locked up with Johnson, Horford and Smith now without much wiggle room. That's not a championship core in the least, but just a relatively expensive 3-5th seed.

As far as the actual deal, he should've gotten more...considering this deal is a pretty large chunk under what Joakim Noah received.
 
Saw this yesterday. I thought he deserved more to for the reasons FedEx posted. They still need something to get them to the next level though.

Yeah, I agree, and that's a weird feeling as a fan. It's not painful, because at the least you know you'll get a decent product for the next four years (which is being optimistic about how much longer JJ will sustain his current production), but it is not exciting either. As a fan, I don't really care if we don't win a title, I'm content with the team not sucking perennially like they have for over half my life. When you go through a stretch like we had from 1998 through 2006, you can certainly appreciate when your team is a consistent winner. But yes, we have a ceiling, and it's not exactly a high one.

Yeah, judged in a vacuum it's a fucking steal. When you factor in how little we'll be able to add elsewhere, it's a classic all eggs in one basket situation. The only hope is that Al and Smoove continue to improve at a faster rate than Joe declines, and that some other things happen at the top of the Eastern Conference to shake up the power structure a bit. Boston's core eventually getting old will help, but Orlando and Miami are poised to whup us both in the division and in the postseason for just as long as our window figures to last.

Basically, we're the third-best team in a three-team division, and will be for the considerable future unless one of our big-3 makes a drastic leap and/or bad luck hits the other two teams.

I guess this is how Blue Jays/Orioles/Rays fans feel?
 
Yeah his agent definitely failed on that.

Noah is a better rebounder, but Horford is decidedly better offensively and less injury history.
