Former WEC middleweight champion, Paulo Filho will have a chance to win one more title in his career. TATAME.com learned from several sources that the black belt will face Bellator tournament champion Hector Lombard at May 20.

Conan Silveira, Lombard’s Jiu-Jitsu trained at American Top Team, confirmed the news to TATAME.com. “We’re ready for anything. I just came from Australia, I didn’t know if Paulão had signed it yet”, said Silveira, who graduated Lombard black belt this Saturday, after his victory at CFC 12. “That’s a sad situation because Paulão comes from the same school that I came, from Carlson’s, he’s my friend, but this it professional”.

Great fight if Filho has his head straight, who knows if he even shows up or can even make weight

Lombard is a beast, Judo and Boxing, would love to see him fight some other top MW's

Too bad Bellator couldnt cut a deal with ESPN. I think that's one of the most underated MMA stories of the year. An ESPN deal could have really got them off the ground in a big way, filling the spot as a legit #3 to the big two.

PRIDE & IFL were on FSN and promptly went out of business. To be fai, neither show was live, but it wont make that big of a difference.

ESPN has the power to really change the game when they eventually get involved.
 
Bellator is making moves. This is a pretty big fight.

I can't wait for Bellator. I keep saying it, but these guys have got the promotion model down. It's just unfortunate they don't have a better TV deal. Conveniently, they are going to be broadcast on the Score here in Canada (I hope) which is one of our Big 3 sports networks. Hopefully they keep the live model and make the time. I'm sure Mauro will be pimping it on the MMA Show.

As for the fight, Filho is a fave of mine, but I think Lombard can work his game. Filho has always been a bit of a bore, and I think Hector can bring it

The group did well on ESPN Deportes, and at the time I felt it was ESPN dipping the toes in the MMA water. I thought moving to ESPN or ESPN2 was a natural next move, but ESPN wouldnt pull the trigger.

I'll watch this religiously on FSN, I just hope other people besides the hardcores find it, but the track record of MMA on FSN says that wont happen.

Yeah, that's the problem. He doesn't always seem like he wants to be in the fight anymore. Against Chonnen, he looked like he was trying to find a way out of the cage. Literally.

He didn't get finished in the Sonnen rematch, but he sure looked like he wanted out of there. Even the win over Manhoef at DREAM.10, I seem to remember him looking like he wanted out of there fast.

yeah, Manhoef had him and than was armbarred, Filho is so skilled he beats people even when he would rather be eating a bag of dorritos in a back alley instead of a fighting

he needs to get his shit together
