Here's a solution for the NFL on those botched Super Bowl tickets

It happened, it's over, it's obviously unfortunate.

How about the NFL offering everyone of those fans season tickets for life with parking ... on top of the Super Bowl of their choice?

I know Green Bay and Pittsburgh are tough places for season tickets, but I'm sure the NFL can figure it out.
And it's not like everyone affected was a Green Bay or Pittsburgh fan.

I feel awful for those fans ... and the NFL could clearly have handled it better, but I think my solution would be awesome.

Season tickets for life and a Super Bowl of your choice would appease me in this one.

The NFL is going to face serious lawsuits.

My only problem on this is that many of them probably paid more than triple face. I looked for tickets and couldn't find anything under $3000. That and they are there to see their team, what if the Steelers and/or Packers aren't in next years Super Bowl.

I heard this morning they are now being offered the triple face value and a ticket to next years Super Bowl or they can now choose free ticket/airfare/hotel to any Super Bowl and can make their choice post championship games. They would not receive the tripe face value on this deal though.

The second option is much more fair IMO and I would have no problem taking that if I were in there shoes.

Based off what I read, it doesn't appear to have an expiration. The way Super Bowl ticket prices are going up it could end up costing the NFL a fortune by the time the Browns or Bungles get there...

NFL offers second option to fans that lost Super Bowl seat

The NFL continues to try to dig out from Sunday’s ticket blunder, giving the 400 ticket holders that didn’t get seats a second option for attending a future Super Bowl.

The NFL just released a statement saying those 400 fans that missed the game live can choose from one of two options:

1. A free ticket to next year’s Super Bowl game plus a cash payment of $2,400 (three times the face value of the Super Bowl XLV game ticket held by the individual). The ticket to next year’s Super Bowl game is transferable.

That option we knew about. Fans can also take less choice and get a different Super Bowl ticket. Here’s the second option:

2. One free ticket to a future Super Bowl game of the fan’s choice, including next year’s if so desired, plus round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations provided by the NFL. This offer will be personalized in the ticketholder’s name and is not transferable.”

The addition of the second option is a nice bonus. (Hint: Door No. 2 is better. Especially if it’s in New Orleans.)

The NFL continues to look for all 400 of the ticketholders, in conjunction of the Packers, Steelers, and Cowboys. If you are one of these fans, email you can email SBXLV@nfl.com. A “senior NFL staff member” will call fans to provide information on fulfilling the fan’s choice.

It’s unclear if fans will have to sign a release to get a future ticket. It is clear the NFL is doing its best to prevent future lawsuits.

Honestly I wouldn't sue at all if I got the second offer. However it sounds like roughly 1000 of the displaced people are preparing a class action suit anyway.

Buried at the bottom of a story regarding the legal options available in Texas for the fans who showed up with tickets to seats at the Super Bowl and didn’t actually get to sit in them is the clearest indication yet that a lawsuit is coming.

L.A.-based attorney Michael Avenatti tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that his firm is preparing a class action suit of roughly 1,000 persons against the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones arising out of the seating fiasco, which occurred when 400 fans were prevented from attending the game and another 850 were shifted to other accommodations.

“We think that this is a pretty straightforward matter,” Avenatti said. “People did not obtain what they were told they were going to get.”

The lawsuit will seek reimbursement for travel expenses and other damages.

Later today, we’ll break down the applicable Texas consumer protection law. For those of you suffering from insomnia.
