My wife watches CSI and apparently Ted Danson is replacing Larry Fishburne. I was wondering why Ted Danson was trending on twitter yesterday. When celebrities over 50 are trending on twitter you usually just assume they died.


The lab at 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' has been in some very capable hands over the years -- first William Petersen, then Laurence Fishburne and now Ted Danson is taking over the reins.

EW is reporting that Danson will be the drama's leading man for the upcoming 12th season, playing the CSI's grave shift supervisor after transferring from the Portland crime lab.

"You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words," said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. "We're very excited Ted Danson came along."

After CBS's exhaustive search to find a worthy person to pass the torch to, they actually managed to come up with an intriguing, well-known and likable choice -- and one that we never thought of.

Emmy-winning Danson is no stranger to TV. He's best known for playing Sam Malone on 'Cheers,' the title character on 'Becker,' "himself" on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' the ethically challenged Arthur Frobisher on 'Damages' (the role that nabbed him three Emmy nominations) and, most recently, as the pot-smoking magazine editor co-starring with Zach Galafianakis and Jason Schwartzman on HBO's 'Bored to Death,' on which he'll remain a series regular.

EW reports that offers also went out to Tony Shalhoub, Robin Williams and John Lithgow, to name but a few, before the studio landed on Danson.

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," said executive producer Don McGill. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

i stopped watching when grissom left, and the character warrick was killed off. i found those two the most interesting characters on the show. grissom for his knowledge and warrick for his gambling and odd issues.
my chances of watching now are slim to none.
