House agrees to 2-year deal with Heat

MIAMI (AP)—Eddie House’s agent says the veteran guard has agreed to terms on a $2.8 million, two-year contract with the Miami Heat.

Agent Mark Bartelstein said Thursday that the second year is a player option.

House was a second-round draft pick by the Heat in 2000 and spent his first three NBA seasons with them. He has since played for eight other teams, including Boston and New York last season, when he averaged 7.0 points in 68 games off the bench.

His career average is 7.6 points, and he’s a 39-percent shooter from 3-point range, with a reputation for making clutch baskets.

House will be a strong contender for a reserve role as part of the Heat’s supporting cast for Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

He should thrive from have Wade and LeBron slashing all day, every day. He doesn't need to be the guy bringing the ball up the court like in Boston. This should work out very well for both sides IMO.

I rather have Z with LeBron on the floor(though it will be on the floor very often) since they have a lot of chemistry. But Joel is developing into quite the defensive stopper. He and Bosh down low will be great. Chalmers will do great with the double-team(s) of the big three and that is why he'll flourish. Arroyo will do well but I do believe Chalmers will start. He just needs to work on his defense.

He and Bosh down low will be great. Chalmers will do great with the double-team(s) of the big three and that is why he'll flourish. Arroyo will do well but I do believe Chalmers will start. He just needs to work on his defense.

Chris Bosh and Z down low defensively will be a nightmare. Miami needs to be looking FAR ahead.. like Lakers ahead.. can you imagine Z and Bosh trying to guard Gasol and Bynum down low? YIKES! Joell is the man for the job, IMO.

Chalmers probably a better defender and shooter then Arroyo, that alone will likely win him the spot. He'll just be asked to limit the mistakes and get one of the big 3 the damn ball and hit an open 3 now and then.

Because I distinctly recall a bunch of threads talking about how poorly Lebron handled his decision, a bunch of threads slamming Maverick Carter, even attacking World-Wide Wes, debating the on-court leadership structure of the new Heat, possibly even debating the organization leadership structure of the Heat, but I don't recall people bashing the Heat and saying they were only a three-headed monster...

Yep, agree with you there. I want to see how we play against LA in our regular season meetings. And then the other concerns for me are just Chicago, Orlando, and Boston. Oklahoma City should be interesting as well.
