How Do You Play?

Hey Guys,

So I saw this poll over at GameFaqs.com (I actually only visit that site mainly for the daily poll anymore...what can I say, I love polls lol) and the question today is, "How is your body positioned when you play video games?" and the poll options are the ones I posted.

I thought this could be a bit of an interesting conversation because I find myself sitting down to play most of the time, but in crucial or exciting moments I'm standing up and bouncing around alot (wireless controllers FTMFW), especially when it comes to sports games like Madden. Due to this I voted for "Depends on what kind of game it is" when honestly I do all of the above (in the poll that is) at some point or another. But I was just curious if any of you guys are the same way or if yall are just a bunch of fatasses sitting down all the time.

i sit in a chair less than 3 feet from a 42" tv, i used to be comfortable with sitting across the room at friends house playing games. Now it feels weird if im not blindly close to the tv.


Another question would be lights on or off? I used to always play with lights off, now they are always on. When i was a kid and my mom came in the room a buddy and i were sitting in the floor playing gameday on ps1. My mom said "are you playing romantic nintendo?" in reference to the lights being off. I still laugh about that to this day.

I'm mostly sitting on the couch when I play. When I was younger I was always standing and pacing back and forth, its pretty funny looking back on it now.

Funny you should say that...I think that's another reason why I might get up and stand closer to the TV...doesn't help that I'm blind enough as it is, but I'm the same way, have to be close to the TV. Back in the day I used to play with lights on or off...but now combined with standing/sitting close to the TV, gonna have em on...I don't wanna be completely blind by the time I'm 30 lol.

When I'm playing a high action game like COD4 online I have to be close to the tv but I don't sit I'm hunched down on my toes.


Then a more laid back game like a RPG or MAgic I just chill in a chair or something.

First I like to smoke a bowl. Then I sit in my computer chair, with ispy(VSN) on and the lights off and only desk lamps lighting my room. Good atmosphere for gaming anything.

I pretty much have my couch set up like 6 - 7 feet from the TV which is 40" No reason to be any closer.

Now my posture depends. Usually for sports games and FPS I am leaning back on the couch with the recliner up. If I am in MP, then for some reason I find I do better when I am sitting up in the couch. Feel more alert.

Sitting in a chair or on my bed, ass on the edge, leaning forward. I cant lay down or on my side or anything. I dont play well that way.

if its a sports game I sit on my bed thats about 4 feet from the TV. If its any other game I just lay down on my stomach and play like that

If I'm playing on the big screen I veg out in the recliner, If I'm playing on my monitor I usually end up on the floor...

i sit in my computer chair about 8 feet away from my 57 inch tv. I have a foot stool that i always use. Lights are always on. I like my setup because i can turn to my left and mess around on the pc if i need to.

with games like rock band and gh, i am now sitting on a sofa about 12 feet from the tv. i notice that when i sit farther back from my tv i can play alot better.

Usually I sit on the side of my bed but if I get really into the game, I will stand up in front of my tv for a brief moment.
