and it looks like I was right, the board has been dead, only a couple of us have posted this last week or so, once the UFC 104 discussion died down it has been dead

We have Strikeforce Challengers, Sengoko and Strikeforce on CBS this week, also Fight Camp 360 and no one cares

Not one person besides me has even made a pick that didnt have a poll question

I guess if Junie Browning and Kimbo were headlining everyone would be posting

lol. you have been going full force this week thats for sure. seems like people come out in droves for UFC events than slink back to wherever it is they came from until the next one. but even the regulars arent posting as much. there hasnt been much hype or build up for this show and thats kinda disappointing. the ufc always does a good job hyping a show even if its crappy. there hasn't been much of anything from SF or CBS outside of short 15 second promos. people here arent posting much leading up to the event but everyones gonna be watching saturday night
 
The Shogun and Buakaw robberies have really tempered my enthusiasm for combat sports as of late.

lol, on paper the CBS show definitely blows the UFCs next two events out of the water, and hell for free tv vs PPV it ranks right up there with 107 as well. The matchups in the StrikeForce event are probably even better than 107s now that I think about it, there's a lot of great fighters being featured at 107, but none of the matchups seem as interesting as what we're going to get with StrikeForce coming up.

I don't know why there hasn't been more activity for this event. Although in general I don't think the MMA section/thread is as active as it was back at MM. Personally I'm just not into making picks all the time, for a card like this with good matchups I just like to watch and not be pulling for anyone just because I picked him. But, yeah I guess a lot of guys feed off the hype and there's no huge hype for this card. Same for the past UFC card too until the BS decision then everyone was talking about it. So I don't think it's a UFC thing, just comes down to the hype factor.

the hell you want us to do? sing songs and dance? im not talking about in here im talking about the hype in general.... outside of the hardcore who else is talking about the fight on saturday? nobody. SF/CBS has done a horrible job showcasing the best fighter in the world. your getting too wrapped up in people posting. once the end of the week rolls around people will be getting excited and everyone is going to be watching on saturday and im sure there will be a lot of discussion afterward. we know this saturday is your christmas/easter/birthday/hanukkah/kwanza or whatever the hell you celebrate all wrapped up in one so dont take it personal when the thread doesnt hit 100 posts in a day. just cause people arent posting doesnt mean they dont care

They ran an ad on Letterman tonight and I assume they'll continue to for the rest of the week. But, the problem really isn't CBS and StrikeForce IMO. MMA websites/blogs nuthug the UFC and they neevverrr cover/publicize the other events to the extent they do for the UFC. Aside from Kimbo and Gina. I mean most sites headlines have been some fuckin fantasy matchup between Dancing Chuck and Tito.

I would think the 'MMA Section' of this website would care a little bit more about one of the better free cards you are going to get with one of the best fighters in the world fighting plus 3 other good fights

I guess I just come from a different era, guys like myself, W2B, and a couple others come from the 'Support the sport' time frame where we were not spoon feed events week after week, able to watch shit for free like its nothing, its a different age I guess

Shit like this is gold in MMA to us old timers
 
Im stoked for this...Fedors gonna Zulu the shit outta rogers, cant wait. Mousasi should roll, but its probly gonna be a KO, always fun to watch. Then we get a grappling fix from Mayhem/Shields Top quality lineup...I'm just a bit of a lurker sometimes, usually only post when I have something to say. None of this "^this" or what he said or bs like that to boost my post count.
I'll make my picks right here:

Fedor vs Rogers
Mousasi vs Sokodjou
Shields vs Mayhem

Fedor via Zulu action. Mousasi by TKO in rd 2. Mayhem takes a close decision. Thats what I'm callin. I honestly dont know enough about any of the other fights to make a decent prediction, so I'll leave that to the Strikeforce experts and Frank followers.

Not posting about it =/= not excited about it.

Strikeforce and Sengoku IX are huge events and while I am excited, its a bit hard to maintain such levels when the last two events that I've superhyped for have left a shitty taste me in my mouth over blatant bullshit.
 
The sengoku 11 show seems alright, but what are the fights you're looking forward to? All I can muster up are the Santiago/Khalidov fight and Satoru Kitaoka vs. Jorge Masvidal fight. That's counting the Randleman and Gono fights.

The only fights I'm not excited for are Uozomi/Yajima and Konno/Ueyama prelims. Everything else is money for me.

Hioki is an elite FW that probably would have won the FWGP had he didn't get injured. Omigawa has shown to be a top FW after struggling at LW and was on a tear in the FWGP being an unlikely finalist. We get to see the 'true' FWGP final with this fight.

Santiago is a Top 5 MW fighting a promising Khalidov, who hasn't lost in 16 fights. FotN potential.

Kitaoka is a Top LW trying to rebound from his loss to an on fire Hirota. Classic striker vs. grappler matchup.

Yokota/Mitsuoka are quality (and underrated) LWs that are pretty much fighting for a title shot against Hirota. FotN potential.

Randleman/Nedkov. I like Randleman (for some reason) and I want to see him beat this nut kneeing Bulgarian.

Gono is past his prime, but still entertaining and Yoon Young Kim is promising and will be a good test for him.

Sandro was robbed (depending on who you ask) in the FWGP semi-finals vs. Omigawa, and Hoshino is 145 pounds of awesome but hasn't fought in a while and that might come into play. Both guys are no slouches. FotN potential.

York/Herm is a HW bar brawl.

Shigeki Osawa is probably the biggest Sengoku prospect outside of Ishii and he's facing his biggest test in Ronnie Mann.

You have no idea how excited I am for the Fedor-vs-Rogers fight I've just been busy as hell so when doing my daily VSN'ing sometimes I forget to check the sports pages until the weekend.
 
I would like to add Werdum over Silva to my picks list...completely forgot about that fight. I have Werdum via 2nd rd sub. Silva's shoddy takedown defense catches up with him in this one
