Immortal's 2011 Mock Draft 2.0 (Two Rounds)

TheImmortalGoud

New member
Round One

Carolina_Panthers.png

1. Patrick Peterson, Cornerback, LSU
When you have the number one pick you could use help in almost any aspect on the team. Patrick Peterson has the potential to be a shutdown corner in this league, and we have all seen the impact Nnamdi and Revis have had on this league. He's the top player on the board and also the player with the fewest questions. It also doesn't hurt that he is the top returner in the draft.

Denver_Broncos.png

2. Nick Fairley, Defensive Tackler, Auburn
With the recent releases of Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams, the Denver Broncos have made it clear they will be taking a DT with this pick. The question is whether they take Marcel Dareus or Nick Fairley. Fairley does have more questions about him, but he is also the most dynamic of the premier DT's with his pass rushing ability.

Buffalo_Bills.png

3. Marcel Dareus, Defensive Tackle, Alabama
Buffalo needs help all over that defense and they move one step closer to making that defense better with Dareus. This pick came down to either Von Miller or Dareus. Dareus gets the edge, because he is the most versatile and fundamentally sound player between the two.

Cincinnati_Bengals.png

4. AJ Green, Wide Receiver, Georgia
With T.O. likely to be moving on and Chad Johnson potentially being traded, the Bengals need to get that number one receiver for the next ten years. A.J. Green is the best receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson. Green will be the impact player on offense the Bengals are looking for.

Arizona_Cardinals.png

5. Von Miller, Outside Linebacker, Texas A&M
Ever since Calvin Pace went to the Jets back in 2008, the rush linebacker position has been a dire need for the Cardinals. Von Miller is the top rush linebacker in this draft, and will come in and make an impact immediately. The Cardinals get the guy they targeted all along.

Cleveland_Browns.png

6. Da'Quan Bowers, Defensive End, Clemson
The Browns have switched to a 4-3 defense and they need some defensive line help. Luckily for them I have Bowers slipping right to them. Bowers is very talented and he is gifted physically. Many people have Bowers as the top prospect in this draft, but with his lingering knee issue he falls to Cleveland at six.

San_Francisco_49ers.png

7. Prince Amukamara, Cornerback,
After an impressive combine Prince moves up to number seven. This isn't a dire position of need, but SF could definitely improve at CB. If it's not Prince then the pick would be Robert Quinn.

Tennessee_Titans.png

8. Blaine Gabbert, Quarterback, Missouri
Easily there biggest need is QB and the Titans get there guy here. There are definitely better players available, but you can't win without a QB. Gabbert is the franchise player Tennessee has been looking for.

Dallas_Cowboys.png

9. J.J. Watt, Defensive End, Wisconsin
Dallas' biggest need is cornerback, but with the remaining corners available it wouldn't be good value with this pick. If the draft played out like this I believe Dallas' would trade out of this pick, but you can't predict trades in a mock. With Marcus Spears and Stephen Bowen becoming free agents Dalls could use someone to replace them. I'm not as high on Watt as others, but he is the prototypical 3-4 End Dallas will need.

Washington_Redskins.png

10. Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Alabama
Julio Jones was one of the top performers at the combine and with that performance the Redskin's take him at ten. Santana Moss is a free agent and even if he wasn't they need to improve at the WR position. Anthony Armstrong cannot be your number one.

Houston_Texans.png

11. Robert Quinn, Rush Linebacker, North Carolina
With the transition to a 3-4, the Texans need that premier pass rusher to come off the edge. Robert Quinn is arguably the best overall pass rusher in the draft, and the Texans get tremendous value with Quinn at eleven.

Minnesota_Vikings.png

12. Cam Newton, Quarterback, Auburn
With the Brett Favre saga finally coming to the end and the Tavris Jackson experiment being over, the Vikings need to find that answer at the QB position. Easily one of the most athletic players in this draft class, but still has a lot of work to do. The Vikings draft for the future here and hope Newton pans out down the road.

Detroit_Lions.png

13. Tyron Smith, Offensive Tackle, USC
The Lions need two things badly, a Cornerback and an Offensive Tackle. Taking a corner here just would be too high, so the objective turns to protecting Matthew Stafford. Tyron Smith is the top tackle in this draft class and he will be the guy the Lions hope can protect Stafford's blindside.

St_Louis_Rams.png

14. Corey Liuget, Defensive Tackle, Illinois
With Cliff Ryan becoming a free agent and Fred Robbins turning 34, the Rams need to find someone to help build that defense. With Chris Long emerging last season, Liuget will come in and only make the D-line better.

Miami_Dolphins.png

15. Mark Ingram, Halfback, Alabama Crimson Tide
IIt seems that Ingram is the consensus pick here for the Dolphins in every mock. With Ronnie Brown becoming a free agent and Ricky Williams set to retire, Miami needs to find a RB. The Dolphins get a position of need and good value with this pick.

Jacksonville_Jaguars.png

16. Cameron Jordan, Defensive End, California
The Jaguars need to solve their End problem, and Jordan is the guy to do it. A top 10 player on my big board and seems to be rising on many other boards. Jacksonville gets tremendous value and takes care of one of there top needs with this pick.

New_England_Patriots.png

17. Aldon Smith, Rush Linebacker, Missouri
With Liuget, Watt, and Jordan off the board already the Patriots lhave to look for another position here. Aldon Smith is considered to be a top 10 prospect by some, and is the top remaining rush linebacker available. The Pats' needed another pass rusher and get it here.

San_Diego_Chargers.png

18. Nate Solder, Offensive Tackle, Colorado
The Chargers have needed a RT for years and take Solder to fill that hole. A very athletic and talented player, but very raw and inconsistent at times. Nonetheless, he fits the Chargers scheme and will start from day one.

New_York_Giants.png

19. Anthony Castonzo, Offensive Tackle, Colorado Buffaloes
With the Giants O-line up there in age and very injury prone they need to start rebuilding the offensive line. Castonzo might not start right away, but he will be the LT for the future.

Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers.png

20. Adrian Clayborn, Defensive End, Iowa Hawkeyes
The Bucs' had a horrific pass rush last year and DE is the number one priority. Coming into the season Clayborn was a top ten prospect, but didn't put up the numbers this year and thus his stock dropping. If he plays like he did in 2009 then this is gonna be an absolute steal for Tampa Bay.

Kansas_City_Chiefs.png

21. Phil Taylor, Nose Tackle, Baylor
The Chiefs haven't had a legitimate nose tackle since they made the transition to a 3-4. Phil Taylor is the top pure nose tackle in this draft and will come in and start right away. There are some character and weight concerns with Taylor, but I think he has that under control.

Indianapolis_Colts.png

22. Gabe Camiri, Offensive Tackle, Wisconsin
The Colts need some help on the offensive line. Camiri offers a tackle who is very good in pass protection, which we know is important to the Colts.

Philadelphia_Eagles.png

23. Jimmy Smith, Cornerback, Colorado
The Eagles tried many options at RCB last year and none of them played well. Jimmy Smith will come in and start from day one bringing some stability to the position.

New_Orleans_Saints.png

24. Akeem Ayers, Outside Linebacker, UCLA
Coming off a terrible combine Ayers' stock falls. The Saints have desperately needed some OLB's for years now and get the best one at 4-3 position. Ayers doesn't do anything great, but he is an all around good player in every aspect of the position.

Seattle_Seahawks.png

25. Brandon Harris, Cornerback, Miami (FL)
Coming off a great combine Harris moves back up into the mid 20's. The Seahawks had absolute terrible play at CB last season. Harris will come in and be an immediate starter.

Baltimore_Ravens.png

26. Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver, Maryland
He's not a player I like a lot, but there is definitely talent with him. With Stallworth and Houshmandzadeh set to become free agents, and Derrick Mason potentially retiring, Torrey Smith could come in and make an impact right away. He will also give them some stability in the kick return game.

Atlanta_Falcons.png

27. Ryan Kerrigan, Defensive End, Purdue
Atlanta could go WR or DE at this pick. The best available of those two would be a DE though. Abraham is getting old and Atlanta didn't really have a pass rush anywhere else last year. Kerrigan will make an impact on the D-line right away

New_England_Patriots.png

28. Derek Sherrod, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi State
With Matt Light set to hit free agency, the Patriots need to get younger and better at tackle. Sherrod is a great pass blocker, and that works well with the Patriots. Will likely play RT with Vollmer more than likely moving to LT.

Chicago_Bears.png

29. Mike Pouncey, Offensive Guard, Florida
The Bears could improve almost anywhere along that abysmal offensive line. They would like to get a tackle, but they need the best available lineman. Mike Pouncey is the consensus top guard in this draft. He'll come in and start at right guard immediately.

New_York_Jets.png

30. Justin Houston, Rush Linebacker, Georgia
It's debatable whether Houston is a defensive end or rush linebacker, but I think he has just enough to be a linebacker. The Jets struggled last year getting to the QB and need some help in that area. Houston might not be a starter right away, but he'll make an impact in pass rushing situations.

Pittsburgh_Steelers.png

31. Ben Ijalana, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Villanova
The Steelers need a CB more than anything, but they also need some O-line help and I don't think the talent between Ijalana and the next best corner is comparable. Depending on whether the Steelers bring back Willie Colon, he'll either be playing RT or RG.

Green_Bay_Packers.png

32. Christian Ballard, Defensive End, Iowa
Cullen Jenkins is a free agent and Johnny Jolly is heading into a contract year. Ballard is a guy I have been high on ever since the Senior Bowl. Ballard will bring in a pass rushing aspect to the D-line that the Packers didn't really have last year.

Round Two

New_England_Patriots.png

33. Leonard Hankerson, Wide Receiver, Miami (FL)
Ever since the Senior Bowl, Hankerson has just kept rising up draft boards. He proved well at the combine as well. After New England traded away Randy Moss they never had that big play guy, and it showed in the playoffs. Hankerson will bring that aspect back to the team and make an immediate impact.

Buffalo_Bills.png

34. Brooks Reed, Rush Linebacker, Arizona
Buffalo didn't have much of a pass rush last season. Brooks Reed is the top rush linebacker available. He'll come in and start right away.

Cincinnati_Bengals.png

35. Mikel Leshoure, Running Back, Illinois
Yep adding to the offense. Benson shouldn't get a long term deal, that's if he is resigned. It's time to start moving in a younger direction with this team. Leshoure is the number two RB on my big board and makes perfect sense with this pick.

Denver_Broncos.png

36. Martez Wilson, Inside/Outside Linebacker, Illinois
After the impressive combine, Martez Wilson moves up to the top of the second round. It's debatable what position he really is, but I see him as a SLB in a 4-3. Needs to improve in coverage, but has all the tools to be a great player.

Cleveland_Browns.png

37. Muhammad Wilkerson, Defensive Tackle, Temple
Cleveland just keeps getting great value in this draft. Wilkerson easily being a first round talent just adds to that. He'll bring in an interior pass rush playing along side Ahtyba Rubin and Da'Quan Bowers.

Arizona_Cardinals.png

38. Aaron Williams, Cornerback, Texas
Last year Arizona couldn't get consistent play out of any of the number two corners whether it be Greg Toler or Trumaine McBride. Williams can come in and start right away across from DRC. Adding Von Miller in the first and now Williams here will make the pass defense much better.

Tennessee_Titans.png

39. Stefen Wisniewski, Center/Guard, Penn State Nittany Lions
The Titans really need a Guard and a Center. Wisniewski can play both, though better at Center. He is very smart and has great instincts, great handwork, and very good footwork. They need someone to protect Gabbert. This is him.

Dallas_Cowboys.png

40. Curtis Brown, Cornerback, Texas
After missing out on a corner in the first they can't wait any longer. Curtis Brown isn't anything special, but he is a good solid player. I think he'll excel well in this system with Rob Ryan coming in and bringing in a more blitz heavy scheme.

Washington_Redskins.png

41. Jake Locker, Quarterback, Washington
While I think Jake Locker is terrible; Mike Shanahan doesn't. There were reports last year that the Redskins might of took Locker with the 4th pick overall last year if he came out. He still needs to sit a year or two before he even has a chance of being anything in this league. The Redskins desperately need a QB and get a guy they really like.

Houston_Texans.png

42. Ras-I Dowling, Cornerback, Virginia
The Texans need secondary help more than any team. If Dowling can stay healthy this is gonna be a great pick, but he always seems to be hurt. He ran an outstanding 4.40 40 at the combine and that's with pulling up with 5 yards left. Why did he pull up? Hamstring injury. He's gotta stay healthy.

Minnesota_Vikings.png

43. Rahim Moore, Safety, UCLA
The Vikings have been garbage the past two years at both of the safety positions. Rahim Moore is the best safety in this draft class. He'll make the position significantly better.

Detroit_Lions.png

44. Brandon Burton, Cornerback, Utah
Another team that desperately needs a corner. A good overall corner, but he'll also make some of the most ridiculous mistakes you can make. He'll compete for a starting job and likely win it.

San_Francisco_49ers.png

45. Christian Ponder, Quarterback, Florida State
It's time to move on from Alex Smith. Christian Ponder is very accurate, but needs to do a better job reading defenses. He might not be the starter immediately, but he will be in the future.

Denver_Broncos.png

46. Kyle Rudolph, Tight End, Notre Dame
McDaniels was stupid to trade away Scheffler, now the Broncos need a Tight End. Rudolph is used to playing in a pro-style offense when he was under Weis and flourished. Only knock on him is health issues.

St_Louis_Rams.png

47. Bruce Carter, Outside Linebacker, North Carolina
They need a Weakside Linebacker and Carter would be a very good pick. Carter has a high football IQ, very instinctive player. He is very quick, very good tackler, and solid in coverage.

Oakland_Raiders.png

48. Danny Watkins, Offensive Guard, Baylor
Robert Gallery isn't returning to Oakland and Cooper Carlisle is garbage. Watkins will be a starter from day one and bring something good to the interior line.

Jacksonville_Jaguars.png

49. Quinton Carter, Safety, Oklahoma
Arguably the Jags' top position of need is safety. Quinton Carter is a good all around safety who can do everything you ask him to. He'll be the starter and give some solidarity to the back end of the defense.

San_Diego_Chargers.png

50. Cameron Heyward, Defensive End, Ohio State
Jaquese Cesaire is a free agent and was average at best. Heyward who was a first round prospect coming into the year didn't do as well this year. A decent pass rusher and one of the top players in this class against the run. He'll be the starting LE.

Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers.png

51. Quan Sturdivant, Inside Linebacker, North Carolina Tar Heels
Rudd is all, but gone in Tampa as he is supposedly asking for too much money. Sturdivant is great in coverage, great instincts, very quick, and is just a play maker all around.

New_York_Giants.png

52. Mason Foster, Outside Linebacker, Washington
Keith Bulluck will be a free agent and Clint Sintim is marginal at best. A great tackler and very smart player. He'll compete with Sintim for the SLB job, and will more than likely win it.

Indianapolis_Colts.png

53. Marvin Austin, Defensive Tackle, North Carolina
Colts signed DeMario Pressley, but he has never been much. Austin played great in the East-West shrine game and was tremendous at the combine. Austin is a gap stuffer with tons of power, he is quite instinctive, and good a recognizing plays.

Philadelphia_Eagles.png

54. Rodney Hudson, Offensive Guard, Florida State
Max Jean-Gilles is a free agent, but wasn't great anyways so the Eagles need a right guard. Hudson is very strong and pretty quick for his size, he was a huge reason on the Seminoles getting back to the ACC Championship. He is a very intelligent player and also very good at pass protection.

Kansas_City_Chiefs.png

55. Jonathan Baldwin, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh
The Chiefs need someone along side Bowe. With his size and quality speed he can get you a big play at any time. Needs to work on catching the ball.

New_Orleans_Saints.png

56. Stephen Paea, Defensive Tackle, Oregon State
They need both a End and a Tackle, but they have needed a Tackle a long side Ellis for awhile now. Paea would be a great pick here for the Saints. He is very powerful, nice speed, good quickness, and is great at causing havoc in the backfield.

Seattle_Seahawks.png

57. Marcus Cannon, Offensive Tackle/Guard, TCU
The Seahawks O-line was terrible last year. Marcus Cannon seems like the prototypical RG with his size, but he has incredible footwork and might be able to be a RT. No matter what position he plays he will be a starter. With Russell Okung and Max Unger coming back healthy this may be a very goo offensive line.

Baltimore_Ravens.png

58. Allen Bailey, Defensive Tackle, Miami (FL)
The Ravens need to start building a rotation along the defensive line like they had in 2009. Allen Bailey is a very raw talent, but with coaching and hard work he could become a good player.

Atlanta_Falcons.png

59. Randall Cobb, Wide Receiver, Kentucky Wildcats
Cobb has great versatility and athleticism. You can use him everywhere to make a play. He is a very good route runner, works the seam well, and is also a great returner.

New_England_Patriots.png

60. Drake Nevis, Defensive End, LSU
The Patriots could use another defensive end. Nevis is more of a 4-4 tackle, but will have to make the adjustment to 3-4 end and I think he can. Very quick player and surprisingly strong considering his size.

San_Diego_Chargers.png

61. Greg Jones, Linebacker, Michigan State
With Burnett, Cooper, and Siler all free agents the Chargers need to reassure themselves with an ILB. Jones will have to transition to a 3-4, but even with his size he is a very good run defender and will be able to hold up.

Chicago_Bears.png

62. Jurrell Casey, Defensive Tackle, USC Trojans
With the release of Tommie Harris and Anthony Adams becoming a free agent, the Bears need someone to play along side Matt Toeaina. Casey is very good at penetrating the line, solid quickness, very nice swim move, and can stuff the gap.

Pittsburgh_Steelers.png

63. Davon House, Cornerback, New Mexico State
We all saw in the Superbowl that the Steelers need some help in the secondary. Davon House is great in man coverage and the Steelers blitz a lot, so that's good for him. Probably won't be a starter right away, but will eventually develop into one.

Green_Bay_Packers.png

64. Clint Boling, Offensive Guard, Georgia
The Packers don't have many needs on this team, but guard is one of them. Daryn Colledge is a free agent and is an average guard anyways. Boling can start right away either at RG or LG depending on whether Josh Sitton moves to LG.

Honestly, one of the better mocks I've seen so far this year. My only thing is I doubt Peterson goes first overall. I just find it hard to believe that someone would take a CB that high, especially when they are going to be playing a Tampa 2 defense.

Agree with Kevin, certainly the beset mock I've seen on this site thus far. (Not saying much, I know)

That being said, I still say Dallas' biggest need is along the offensive line. The corners are nowhere near as bad as everyone says they are. They could go one more year with the combo of Newman, Jenkins and Scandrick there and be alright. Maybe add a guy to push them in the 2nd-4th rounds, but it's not critical at this juncture.

I'm no fan of JJ Watt at 9, though, even though we have a DE need (Spears will likely not be back, Bowen will though).

RT
DE
S

In that order.

Trade down, nab Carimi. Maybe even Tyron Smith.

No CB's unless his last name is Peterson and he's from LSU.

I can't see a corner going #1 ... and I doubt Fairley is the first DT taken after all the combine stuff.
I like your Eagles' picks though. They address definite team needs.

Solid mock, but Drake Nevis as a 3-4 DE is a bigger mismatch than Glenn Dorsey is/was. Bad idea jeans right there.

Just my .02.

I completely agree, but I think the Patriots will take a 3-4 end with one of there first four picks. There was really no other pure 3-4 end that would make sense to take at that spot.

pretty good draft. I wouldn't want Bailey personally, if we were to select a player just because of his physical ability then I would want Dontay Moch. Plus he actually produced in college.

In the second round we could address CB or add depth to the offensive line with someone like Orlando Franklin. Or even add a offensive play-maker like Ryan Williams who I think would be a steal at that pick.

D-line is a bigger need IMO then the other positions you just named. It would be a round too soon for Orlando Franklin, but I could definitely see the Ravens taking a RB. Almost put Ryan Williams there for the pick.

I agree we need to get some DL, which is more to due with depth than need to start, but I just don't want Bailey. He never lived up to the hype in college. I know he is gifted physically, but as you said he has raw talent. I'm just not sure he could come in and contribute right away. I think you would want to make a second round pick who could come in and help you right away.

I rather take a CB there if a solid one is available, which I'm not sure there is, because he would get quite a bit of PT. I'd say I'd go Ryan Williams there because he could come in and make a very nice tandem with Rice.

Then in the third if they're there look at Orlando Franklin, Rashad Carmichael, or a Lawrence Guy/Jarvis Jenkins.

I'm just not sold on Bailey. He showed up sometimes in college, but not for the most part, the he didn't show up in the senior bowl at all. Thats why I said if we were going to take a guy with raw talent, I'd take Moch, because we do need depth at rush linebacker, and Moch showed up in college atleast and the combine.
