Immortal's 2011 Mock Draft 3.0

1. Cleveland Cavaliers (from LAC) - Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke - Cleveland needs talent everywhere. Irving is one of the top players in the draft.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves - Derrick Williams, SF, Arizona - Minnesota will scramble to try to trade this pick, but they will fail to find a taker. Beasley or Williams would be traded shortly afterwards.

3. Utah Jazz (from NJ) - Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky - Utah doesn't need a starting PG, but they need a SG. Devin Harris can move to SG, and Knight can takeover at PG.

4. Cleveland Cavaliers - Enes Kanter, C, Kentucky/Turkey - Like I said earlier, Cleveland needs talent everywhere. In a league with no Centers, Kanter has the potential to be top 5 at the position. Valanciunas would be the pick, but his contract situation pushes him back.

5. Toronto Raptors - Jan Vesely, F, Czech Republic - Toronto has a glaring need at SF. Vesely is considered the third best player in the draft by some.

6. Washington Wizards - Kawhi Leonard, SF, San Diego State - Washington has a huge need at SF. Leonard is still developing as an offensive player, but is a great defender and rebounder for his position.

7. Denver Nuggets (from SAC) - Jonas Valanciunas , PF/C, Lithuania - I'm predicting the Kings trade this pick to the Nuggets for Raymond Felton. Unlike other teams, Denver can afford to wait on Valanciunas.

8. Detroit Pistons - Tristan Thompson, PF, Texas - The Pistons need another big to go along with Greg Monroe.

9. Charlotte Bobcats - Marcus Morris, PF, Kansas - Charlotte desperately needs talent in the front court. Charlotte is said to be really high on Morris.

10. Milwaukee Bucks - Alec Burks, SG, Colorado - The Bucks are going to take the best player available. Burks would be that, and would happen to fill a need at the same time.

11. Golden State Warriors - Klay Thompson, SG, Washington State- I'm expecting Monta Ellis to be traded sometime during the offseason. The Warriors will need to replace him.

12. New York Knicks (from UTAH) - Kemba Walker, G, Connecticut - The Knicks will trade Toney Douglas and their first to move up to twelve. I was gonna give them Jimmer here, but they won't be able to pass on Kemba if he's available.

13. Phoenix Suns - Jimmer Fredette, G, BYU - The Suns need to get younger in the back court. Jimmer and Aaron Brooks should be exciting to watch.

14. Houston Rockets - Chris Singleton, SF, Florida State - Houston hasn't really figured out the SF position yet. Maybe Singleton is the answer.

15. Indiana Pacers - Markieff Morris, PF, Kansas - Indiana doesn't have any depth behind Hibbert and Hansbrough. Morris would help that problem.

16. Philadelphia 76ers - Jordan Hamilton, SF, Texas - I'm expecting Philly to trade Iggy for Chris Kaman when it's all said and done. Philly would then need someone to backup Evan Turner.

17. Utah Jazz (from NYK) - Marshon Brooks, SG, Providence - Utah could use a dynamic scorer like Brooks to provide some offense off the bench.

18. Washington Wizards (from ATL) - Bismack Biyombo, PF/C, Congo - The Wizards are looking for depth in the front court. Biyombo falls due to back problems. He can backup posth Power Forward and Center.

19. Charlotte Bobcats (from NO) - Tobias Harris, SF, Tennessee - Stephen Jackson isn't a long term option at SF. Harris is the best available Small Forward.

20. Minnesota Timberwolves (from MEM) - Nikola Vucevic, C, USC - Minnesota desperately needs a Center. Vucevic has seen his stock rise in recent weeks, and could go as high as sixteen.

21. Portland Trail Blazers - Kenneth Faried, PF, Morehead State - Portland has no depth in the front court. Faried would help fix that problem.

22. Denver Nuggets - Iman Shumpert, G, Georgia Tech - For some reason Shumpert is considered a first round pick now. Raymond Felton was traded and J.R. Smith likely won't be back, so it makes since to slot him here.

23. Houston Rockets (from PHO) - Donates Motiejunas, F, Lithuania - This is strictly a value pick. If he can put some weight on then he might be able to develop into a Center.

24. Oklahoma City Thunder - Kyle Singler, SF, Duke - The Thunder need a backup for Kevin Durant. Singler would be a great fit in that role.

25. Boston Celtics - Jeremy Tyler, PF/C, USA - Boston needs to get younger at just about every position, especially in the front court.

26. Dallas Mavericks - Nikola Mirotic, F, Montenegro - Dallas isn't gonna need a Small Forward if Caron Butler is brought back. I expect him to be back, so Dallas can use a pick on a foreign talent.

27. New Jersey Nets (from LAL) - Josh Selby, G, Kansas - New Jersey needs a scorer and depth at guard. Selby seems like a perfect fit.

28. Chicago Bulls (from TOR) - Tyler Honeycutt, SF, UCLA - Honeycutt is a good defender and would provide good depth for Chicago.

29. San Antonio Spurs - Davis Bertans, F, Latvia - The Spurs reportedly really like Bertans. It would make since considering this is a Spurs kind of pick.

Thoughts on your mock

-I believe the Jazz will end up taking Kanter, figuring they can get a point at 12.

-Felton to Sacramento is an interesting move, not sure if it's a great fit though since he'll be a FA (assuming Sac wants more than just 1 year and the cap flexibility)

-Definitely agree that Kemba will slide, perhaps moreso than Jimmer.

-Surprised you have Biyombo dropping to 18. I know his back is an issue to some teams, but someone is going to fall in love with his measurable.

As for the Knicks, not really sure what to think. Depending on which story you read, one has them trying to trade up…another has them trying to trade down. One says they're shopping Douglas, another says they aren't. Damn draft talk.

If they sit at 17, I think they covet Alec Burks and Jimmer. No way either guy makes it to 17 tho.

Nikola Vucevic, Iman Shumpert and Chris Singleton (even though he plays the 3), one of them will be the pick at 17 IMO.

I expect them to buy back into the bottom of the first round, perhaps the Bulls pick, to pick up a point guard if they don't at 17.

He has a weird story...just skipped his senior year to play pro ball, been around the world but he's got legit size and length and a projectable skill set as at least a bench big...in a draft that has 2 legit centers that will be off the board before #5, it can't hurt later in the draft to grab this kid who, might not be a kid anymore due to life experience. He's a "why not" pick of the night for me...at some point, just roll the dice.

I like the story too (it was high school he skipped out on at that), only 19 or 20 and has a ton of room to develop.

Jeremy Tyler did very bad in Japanese ball where he didn't even play in the country's best league, but I don't know how much of that comes from being 18 in Japan, and how well he will translate to NBA. I like him alright in the 2nd but I wouldn't want to give him a guaranteed contract for 2 years.

As far as the Bucks I think I decided I like Klay Thompson over Burks in a "lesser of two evils" kind of way. Even if it is not great I think I know what we can get out of Klay, I am still worried about Burks' jumper.

I'm shocked JuJuan Johnson has flown so far under the radar. I'm a huge Faried fan, but I think Johnson can do all the same things as well as Faried can, if not better. He can definitely be a contributor off the bench.

He was 17 and 18 playing in Israel and Japan...I don't expect much success coming straight from USHS.

You bring him in, start him out in the D-League and see how he develops. He's a 2-3-4 year out project anyway, but he's a nice clump of clay to work with.

Yeah, there's really only one way to find out what he can do and that is by taking him. Brandon Jennings didn't play much overseas either (he turned out to be good), so I don't put much stock into that, because you don't know the situation. Strange things happen in those overseas leagues that sometimes is out of the control of the player.

Last year, Daniel Orton went real high...he was riding the pine in Kentucky, generally...

The difference between Orton and Tyler ain't much...so in a weak draft, I don't see why he couldn't go a little higher than some project. He's much better value @ #31 than #30, but still...I'd take the risk...why not?

I don't think the way the international scene plays their ball is a good indicator of how they will translate to the NBA, especially if they have good individual skills...someone like Tyler maybe a good fit 2-3 years down the road.
