Round One
1. Cam Newton, Quarterback, Auburn
While I wouldn't do this, Carolina will. Carolina needs to get something going with this franchise, and Newton is the main attraction in this draft class.
2. Marcell Dareus, Defensive Tackle, Alabama
With the recent releases of Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams, the Denver Broncos have made it clear they will be taking a DT with this pick. The question is whether they take Marcell Dareus or Nick Fairley. Dareus is the more consistent player, and has less character concerns about him. You gotta be sure when you're picking this high, and Fairley has too many questions. If Carolina were to shock us and take Dareus then I think the pick would be Patrick Peterson.
3. Von Miller, Rush Linebacker, Texas A&M
Buffalo's Rush Linebacker's are terrible. Von Miller has been linked to Buffalo for quite some time now. He's at worst the 3rd player on their big board. The other two players would be Cam Newton and Marcell Dareus. Unless Buffalo decides they need to take Blaine Gabbert, then this pick is obvious.
4. AJ Green, Wide Receiver, Georgia
With T.O. likely to be moving on and Chad Johnson potentially being traded, the Bengals need to get that number one receiver for the next ten years. A.J. Green is the best receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson. Green will be the impact player on offense the Bengals are looking for.
5. Patrick Peterson, Cornerback, LSU
Unless Cam Newton were to fall, I don't think the Cardinals would take a Quarterback. Arizona would like Von Miller, but he's off the board. Arizona also has a need at Cornerback across from DRC. Patrick Peterson is the top player in this draft class, and is a once in a decade type of player. DRC and PP7 would form one of the league's scariest Cornerback duos.
6. Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Alabama
With Da'Quan Bowers' knee issues and character concerns surrounding Nick Fairley, the Browns go for a Wide Receiver. The Browns have absolutely nothing at Wide Receiver, so while this pick may be a reach, it makes a lot of sense. Robert Quinn would be the pick if they decide against taking Julio Jones.
7. Blaine Gabbert, Quarterback, Missouri
San Francisco has been looking for a franchise Quarterback ever since Steve Young retired. Gabbert has franchise Quarterback talent, but we'll have to see if he develops into that. He can sit a year behind Alex Smith (assuming he's brought back) and be ready to take over in 2012.
8. Nick Fairley, Defensive Tackle, Auburn
With the top two Quarterbacks gone, the Titans move their attention to the Defensive Line. I think Defensive End is a bigger need, but Fairley is the best player available. With Nick Fairley and Jason Jones in the middle, the Titans will have one of the top interior pass rushing duos in the league. One other note, Tennessee's new Defensive Line coach, Tracy Rocker, coached Fairley at Auburn.
9. Tyron Smith, OT, USC
Word is Dallas likes Tyron Smith a lot. Marc Colombo is a bum. Tyron Smith is the most talented Offensive Tackle in this draft. Dallas needs to get younger and better on the Offensive Line. I believe Dallas would like to trade down into the teens, but that's likely not going to happen. Cameron Jordan or J.J. Watt could also be the pick here.
10. Jake Locker, Quarterback, Washington
I've been projecting Locker to the Redskins in the second round in my last couple of mocks, but they don't want to take the chance of missing out on him. While I think Jake Locker is terrible; Mike Shanahan doesn't. There were reports last year that the Redskins might of taken Locker with the 4th pick overall last year if he came out. He still needs to sit a year or two before he even has a chance of being anything in this league. The Redskins desperately need a QB and get a guy they really like.
11. Robert Quinn, Rush Linebacker, North Carolina
With the transition to a 3-4, the Texans need that premier pass rusher to come off the edge. Robert Quinn could have potentially gone number one this year if he didn't lose the year due to suspension, and he could go as high as number five this year. If the Texans don't feel like Robert Quinn is the guy then the pick would be Aldon Smith.
12. Da'Quan Bowers, Defensive End, Clemson
Bowers will fall in the draft due to his knee issues, but not into the 20's like some people think. Minnesota needs to add another Defensive End with Ray Edwards set to leave. Minnesota would like to trade back to take Christian Ponder and collect more picks.
13. Prince Amukamara, Cornerback, Nebraska
The Lions need two things badly, a Cornerback and an Offensive Tackle. The Lions fall into a dream scenario with Amukamara falling to thirteen.
14. Corey Liuget, Defensive Tackle, Illinois
With Cliff Ryan becoming a free agent and Fred Robbins turning 34, the Rams need to find someone to help build that defense. With Chris Long emerging last season, Liuget will come in and only make the D-line better. I could also see the Rams taking Aldon Smith, but I feel Defensive Tackle is a bigger need.
15. Mike Pouncey, Offensive Guard, Florida
I'm finally off the Mark Ingram bandwagon (as just about everyone else is). I think the Dolphins will trade back in the draft, but either way Pouncey would be the pick. The interior line is arguably the Dolphins biggest need, and they get the top interior lineman in the draft.
16. Aldon Smith, Defensive End, Missouri
The Jaguars need to solve their Defensive End problem, and Smith is the guy to do it. Apart from Aaron Kampman, Jacksonville's Defensive Ends are terrible. Aldon Smith is the most talented of the Defensive Ends remaining. Jacksonville takes care of one of their top needs with this pick.
17. Cameron Jordan, Defensive End, California
The Patriots are looking for another Defensive End, and Jordan is the perfect fit. With Mike Wright and Ty Warren both coming off injuries, Jordan will be an immediate starter. The Patriots will probably trade this pick though.
18. J.J. Watt, Defensive End, Wisconsin
The Chargers need to upgrade at LE with Jacques Cesaire set to become a free agent (and not being that good in the first place). Watt is the best available 3-4 End.
19. Anthony Castonzo, Offensive Tackle, Boston College
With the Giants O-line up there in age and very injury prone they need to start rebuilding the Offensive Line. Castonzo might not start right away, but he will be the LT for the future.
20. Ryan Kerrigan, Defensive End, Purdue
The Bucs had a horrific pass rush last year and Defensive End is the number one priority. This pick could be a number of defensive ends here, but I think it'll be Ryan Kerrigan.
21. Phil Taylor, Nose Tackle, Baylor
The Chiefs haven't had a legitimate Nose Tackle since they made the transition to a 3-4. Phil Taylor is the top pure Nose Tackle in this draft and will come in and start right away. There are some character and weight concerns with Taylor, but I think he has that under control. His foot condition also won't be a problem.
22. Derek Sherrod, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi State
The Colts need some help on the Offensive Line. Sherrod offers a Tackle who is very good in pass protection, which we know is important to the Colts. Solder is the more talented player, but the Colts need someone who they are sure on.
23. Jimmy Smith, Cornerback, Colorado
The Eagles tried many options at RCB last year and none of them played well. Jimmy Smith will come in and start from day one bringing some stability to the position. The Eagles won't care about his character concerns (which are overplayed to begin with).
24. Muhammad Wilkerson, Defensive Tackle, Temple
The Saints need both a Defensive End and a Defensive Tackle, but they have needed a Defensive Tackle along side Ellis for awhile now. Muhammad Wilkerson is the best Defensive Tackle available at this spot.
25. Nate Solder, Offensive Tackle, Colorado
The Seahawks were terrible along the offensive line last season. Sean Locklear played like the bum he is and Solder will be a hige upgrade over him. With Okung and Unger coming into next season healthy, this offensive line could be really good next year.
26. Cameron Heyward, Defensive End, Ohio State
Reports are the Ravens aren't gonna pass on Heyward at 26 if he's available. Heyward would add much needed depth along the Baltimore defensive line. Baltimore will always look to entertain trades at this spot as well.
27. Gabe Carimi, Offensive Tackle, Wisconsin
Atlanta could go WR, DE, or OL at this pick. Harvey Dahl, Justin Blalock, and Tyson Clabo are all free agents. The Falcons won't be able to retain all of them. I don't think the Falcons can pass on Carimi if he falls this far.
28. Mark Ingram, Running Back, Alabama
I can't see Mark Ingram falling out of the first round, and this is the last chance the he'll go in the first.. New England will address running back some point during this draft, and they get the best running back in the draft at 28.
29. Marvin Austin, Defensive Tackle, North Carolina
With the release of Tommie Harris and Anthony Adams becoming a free agent, the Bears need some help inside. Ever since Tommie Harris' knee issues the Bears haven't had a legitimate 3-technique. Marvin Austin is the perfect fit for what Chicago is looking for. An Offensive Lineman or Jonathan Baldwin could also be the pick here.
30. Akeem Ayers, Rush Linebacker, UCLA
The Jets struggled last year getting to the QB and need some help in that area. Akeem Ayers is the one of the top players available at the position. Ayers' wasn't used that much as a pure pass rusher at UCLA, but many believe that his his best attribute.
31. Danny Watkins, Offensive Guard, Baylor
I had the Steelers taking Watkins in the second round of my last mock, but I don't think they're sold on a cornerback to take here anymore. The Steelers aren't looking for someone to develop, they're looking for immediate help along the Offensive Line. Danny Watkins provides just that.
32. Brooks Reed, Rush Linebacker, Arizona
While Green Bay has some okay pieces opposite of Clay Matthews, they could definitely upgrade. Brooks Reed is the best available Rush Linebacker. He'll take some pressure off of Clay Matthews providing some pass rush opposite of him.
Round Two
33. James Carpenter, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Alabama
With Matt Light set to hit free agency, the Patriots need to get younger and better at tackle. James Carpenter has been on the rise, and is even considered a late first rounder by some people. He can start off as the Right Tackle and move to Right Guard if Tackle doesn't work out.
34. Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback, Nevada
It's pretty much guaranteed that Buffalo is going to take a Quarterback in the second round. We're just not certain on who that guy is going to be. I think it's going to be Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick has the most upside of any of the remaining Quarterbacks available. He can sit a year behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and take over in 2012.
35. Christian Ponder, Quarterback, Florida State
The Bengals organization is finally coming to the realization that Carson Palmer isn't gonna be back, and that they need a new signal caller. The Bengals are going to a West Coast offense, and Ponder is the perfect fit for the scheme. I have a feeling someone is either gonna trade back or move up into the first to take Ponder, but I'm not predicting any trades in my mock.
36. Kyle Rudolph, Tight End, Notre Dame
McDaniels was an idiot to trade away Tony Scheffler. Now the Broncos need a Tight End. Rudolph is used to playing in a pro-style offense when he was under Weis and flourished. Only knock on him is health issues.
37. Adrian Clayborn, Defensive End, Iowa
After Wide Receiver, Defensive End is the biggest need for Cleveland. Coming into the season, Clayborn was a top ten prospect, but didn't put up the numbers this year and thus his stock dropping. His Erb's Palsy is also a concern. If he plays like he did in 2009 then this is gonna be an absolute steal for Cleveland.
38. Jabaal Sheard, Rush Linebacker, Pittsburgh
Ever since Calvin Pace went to the Jets back in 2008, the Rush Linebacker position has been a dire need for the Cardinals. Adding Patrick Peterson in the first and now Sheard here will make the pass defense much better.
39. Andy Dalton, Quarterback, TCU
The Titans biggest need is Quarterback, and Andy Dalton is one of the two remaining Quarterbacks worth taking here. With only Rusty Smith on the roster, Dalton will be asked to start right away.
40. Christian Ballard, Defensive End, Iowa
Marcus Spears and Stephen Bowen are free agents. Dallas could use someone to replace them. Ballard is a guy I have been high on ever since the Senior Bowl. I actually like Ballard more than I do Clayborn.
41. Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver, Maryland
Santana Moss is a free agent and even if he wasn't they need to improve at the WR position. Anthony Armstrong cannot be your number one. Smith isn't ready to be a number one, but the Redskins can afford to wait.
42. Aaron Williams, Cornerback/Safety, Texas
The Texans need secondary help more than any team. The Texans have a need at Free Safety and Cornerback, so the Texans can put him where they think he'll help the team most.
43. Ryan Mallett, Quarterback, Arkansas
The last of the Quarterbacks worth taking in the second round. The Vikings are heading into the season with Joe Webb and Rhett Bomar at quarterback. They need an upgrade. Ryan Mallett is the best pure passer in this draft class, but is also has huge character concerns. Minnesota really needs a Quarterback though, so they'll take the risk.
44. Benjamin Ijalana, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Villanova
After taking a Cornerback in the first, the Lions address a second need. Ijalana offers the versatility to play Tackle or Guard. The Lions are gonna need that with Gosder Cherilus coming off an injury and Jeff Backus up in age. He can start off as the Right Guard, and transition to Tackle eventually.
45. Justin Houston, Rush Linebacker, Georgia
I originally had Houston going 20 to Tampa Bay, but I dropped him here after the failed drug test. Ahmad Brooks and Parys Haralson haven't provided consistent play across from Manny Lawson. San Francisco may also look at some Cornerbacks at this spot.
46. Mikel Leshoure, Running Back, Illinois
With John Fox taking over, Denver is gonna need another Running Back. Leshoure and Moreno should provide a good 1-2 punch.
47. Jonathan Baldwin, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh
St. Louis has some nice receivers, but nothing special. Let's see what Sam Bradford can do now that he has a legitimate weapon outside.
48. Stefen Wisniewski, Center/Guard, Penn State
The Raiders need help at Center and Guard. Wisniewski can play both, though better at Center. He is very smart and has great instincts, great handwork, and very good footwork. His uncle Steve was also just hired to be the Raiders O-Line coach.
49. Rahim Moore, Safety, UCLA
Arguably the Jags top position of need is Safety. Rahim Moore is the top Safety in the draft. He'll be the starter and give some solidarity to the back end of the defense.
50. Randall Cobb, Wide Receiver, Kentucky
With Malcolm Floyd and Legadu Naanee becoming free agents, the Chargers are gonna need another receiver. Cobb is also a speed threat, which is something San Diego hasn't had at the receiver position. Cobb also has the versatility to be a Running Back, which is good with Darren Sproles likely gone. He'll help in the return game as well.
51. Brandon Harris, Cornerback, Miami (FL)
Aqib Talib is likely to be released after another off the field incident. This will also be the last year for Ronde Barber, so they're gonna need some depth. E.J. Biggers, Myron Lewis, and Brandon Harris should provide a nice secondary.
52. Mason Foster, Outside Linebacker, Washington
Keith Bulluck will be a free agent and Clint Sintim is marginal at best. Foster is a great tackler and very smart player. He'll compete with Sintim for the SLB job, and will more than likely win it.
53. Stephen Paea, Defensive Tackle, Oregon State
After Offensive Line, the Defensive Tackle position is the next biggest need. Paea would have been a first round pick if it wasn't for his injury at the Senior Bowl. This should turn out to be an absolute steal.
54. Orlando Franklin, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Miami (FL)
The Offensive Line was one of the weaknesses this season for the Eagles. Orlando Franklin is an athletic lineman who would fit well in the Eagles system.
55. Leonard Hankerson, Wide Receiver, Miami (FL)
Dwayne Bowe was the only good receiver last year for Kansas City. They need all the help they can get at receiver. Hankerson is the 3rd Wide Receiver on my big board, so I think this is an excellent pick.
56. Martez Wilson, Linebacker, Illinois
The Saints have a lot of free agent Outside Linebackers, but none of them are long term options anyways. Wilson can play be the Strongside Linebacker, or play the middle and move Vilma outside.
57. Davon House, Cornerback, New Mexico State
If Offensive Line isn't the biggest need then it's Corner. Marcus Trufant and Kelly Jennings were garbage last year. The Seahawks like big Corners and Davon House is just that at 6'1" and 200lbs.
58. Titus Young, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Alabama
With Stallworth and Houshmandzadeh set to become free agents, and Derrick Mason potentially retiring, the Ravens have a huge need at Wide Receiver. The Ravens are also looking for a speed threat and Young provides that.
59. Jerrel Jernigan, Wide Receiver, Troy
Atlanta needs to add another receiver. Specifically, a speed/slot kind of receiver. They get that here.
60. Chris Carter, Rush Linebacker, Fresno State
The Patriots didn't have much of a pass rush last season. Chris Carter has been one of the fastest rising players after an impressive combine. The Pat Hill-Bill Belichick connection also makes it seem likely this would be the pick. Considering who they have on the roster, Carter will more than likely be a starter.
61. Marcus Gilbert, Offensive Tackle, Florida
Charger fans scream in joy as Jeromey Clary becomes a free agent. Gilbert is the guy that will takeover for that bum.
62. Clint Boling, Offensive Guard, Georgia
The Bears could improve almost anywhere along that abysmal offensive line. The Bears feel that the interior line is a bigger need, and Boling is one of the top interior lineman available.
63. Ras-I Dowling, Cornerback, Virginia
The Steelers need a CB more than anything, and that showed in the Superbowl. Pittsburgh likes big Corners and Ras-I Dowling is just that. Dowling has first round talent, and some people even think he has a shot to go in the late first.
64. Will Rackley, Offensive Guard, Lehigh
The Packers don't have many needs on this team, but guard is one of them. Daryn Colledge is a free agent and is an average guard anyways. Lehigh has had a lot of momentum recently and has pushed his stock into the second round. Lehigh can start right away at Left Guard
Round Three
65. Jarvis Jenkins, Defensive Tackle, Clemson
The panthers have nothing in the interior Defensive Line. Jarvis Jenkins is one of the top players available at Defensive Tackle.
66. Ryan Williams, Running Back, Virginia Tech
Cedric Benson is a free agent, and will likely not be resigned. Bernard Scott is a good change of pace back, but not an every down runner. Ryan Williams has first round talent, so this is a great need and value pick for the Bengals.
67. Jurrell Casey, Defensive Tackle, USC
Even after taking Marcell Dareus in the first round, the Broncos still need help inside. Jurrell Casey is one of the top players available at the position. If he lives up to the preseason expectations then this could be a really good pick.
68. James Brewer, Offensive Tackle, Indiana
Buffalo hasn't had an offensive line for a few years now. They're heading into next season with Erik Pears at RT. That's not good. I think Brewer needs a year to develop, but Buffalo really needs help.
69. Marcus Cannon, Offensive Tackle/Guard, TCU
I already finished the third round by the time we found out that Marcus Cannon has lymphoma. Marcus Cannon is gonna drop into the later rounds due to this. The Cardinals will still probably take an Offensive Linemen here.
70. John Moffitt, Offensive Guard, Wisconsin
Floyd Womack is a free agent, and Cleveland could use an upgrade anyways.
71. Quan Sturdivant, Inside Linebacker, North Carolina
Keith Brooking and Bradie James are free agents after this season. The Cowboys can draft one of their replacements to pair with Sean Lee.
72. Allen Bailey, Defensive End, Miami (FL)
The Saints have a need at Defensive End. New Orleans likes big Defensive Ends and Allen Bailey is just that.
73. Kenrick Ellis, Nose Tackle, Hampton
The Texans don't have a big fat guy, and they're gonna need one with the switch to a 3-4. Kenrick Ellis is just the guy they're looking for.
74. Quinton Carter, Safety, Oklahoma
Brandon Meriweather may be going behind bars soon. The Patriots are gonna need someone to replace him.
75. Bruce Carter, Outside Linebacker, North Carolina
The Lions may have the worst Outside Linebackers in the league. Bruce Carter has first round talent, but his injury concerns push him to the third round.
76. Rodney Hudson, Offensive Guard/Center, Florida State
San Francisco didn't fare well at Center with David Bass after Eric Heitmann missed the entire season. San Francisco has bigger needs, but Hudson is too good of a prospect to pass up on. He's the 34th player on my big board.
77. Greg Jones, Linebacker, Michigan State
Tennessee didn't get productive play from the outside linebacker's last season. Greg Jones can play any 4-3 linebacker position, which is good, because Stephen Tulloch could leave in free agency.
78. Daniel Thomas, Running Back, Kansas State
Word is the Rams are looking for someone to be Steven Jackson's successor. Daniel Thomas is the best available Running Back to do that.
79. Taiwan Jones, Running Back, Eastern Washington
Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams aren't gonna be back. Jones pretty much guaranteed a second day selection with a great pro day. Jones will be one of the future Running Backs in Miami.
80. Curtis Brown, Cornerback, Texas
After Rashean Mathis, the Jaguars had too much inconsistent play at Cornerback. Jacksonville is gonna need someone to challenge Derek Cox, or replace him for that matter. Curtis Brown is a steal this late in the third.
81. Chimdi Chekwa, Cornerback, Ohio State
Crazy Al Davis likes big fast Corners. Chimdi Chekwa is just that at 6'1" and 191lbs while running a 4.38 40 time. They're gonna need him with Nnamdi moving on.
82. Dontay Moch, Rush Linebacker, Nevada
The Chargers struggled getting a pass rush opposite of Shaun Phillips. You gotta wait three years before you can declare someone a bust, but Larry English isn't looking too good. Hopefully Moch will be the guy making an impact opposite of Phillips.
83. Luke Stocker, Tight End, Tennessee
I think this pick will either be Luke Stocker or DeMarco Murray. This is a deeper Running Back class and Murray has some injury concerns. The edge goes to Stocker.
84. Colin McCarthy, Middle Linebacker, Miami (FL)
Rudd is all but gone in Tampa as he is supposedly asking for too much money. McCarthy is a very underrated prospect who will excel in the Tampa-2.
85. DeAndre McDaniel, Safety, Clemson
It doesn't appear that Quintin Mikell will be back next year. Kurt Coleman isn't gonna be the guy who replaces him. McDaniel is the next best available Safety.
86. Sam Acho, Rush Linebacker, Texas
The Chiefs didn't have another Rush Linebacker after Tamba Hali last year. Sam Acho is the best available Rush Linebacker.
87. Tyler Sash, Safety, Iowa
Bob Sanders is finally gone, and Melvin Bullitt is a free agent. Bullitt will be brought back, but he isn't a long term option at SS. The Colts could also use some depth at the Safety position.
88. Robert Sands, Safety, West Virginia
New Orleans will probably trade one of their two 3rd round picks considering they don't have another pick until the seventh round. We can't predict trades here though, so the Saints will make a project pick and take Sands. Roman Harper is a free agent, and even though he'll be brought back the Saints could upgrade over him.
89. Brandon Burton, Cornerback, Utah
The Chargers have two really good corners, but they don't have any depth behind Antoine Cason and Quentin Jammer. Burton is one of the top corners available, and addresses that depth issue.
90. Jason Pinkston, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Pittsburgh
Jared Gaither is a free agent and he may never return to what he was after a back injury. Pinkston will more than likely play Right Guard, and Marshall Yanda will be the permanent Right Tackle.
91. Kendall Hunter, Running Back, Oklahoma State
Jerious Norwood isn't gonna be back. Jason Snelling is a good backup, but not the change of pace back the Falcons are looking for. Kendall Hunter is the perfect spell back to Michael Turner.
92. Johnny Patrick, Cornerback, Louisville
Darius Butler isn't that good. Leigh Bodden is coming off a shoulder injury. Kyle Arrington should only be a nickelback. The Patriots need some cornerback depth.
93. Greg Little, Wide Receiver, North Carolina
The Bears have some good receivers, but they don't have that guy. Greg Little has that number one receiver talent that the Bears have been lacking for years.
94. Sione Fua, Nose Tackle, Stanford
Kris Jenkins is gone and they need defensive line depth anyways. Fua can anchor the middle, and allow Sione Pouha to move over to defensive end.
95. Jerrell Powe, Nose Tackle, Ole Miss
Casey Hampton is starting to regress. The Steelers need to start developing his replacement.
96. Curtis Marsh, Cornerback, Utah State
Charles Woodson isn't gonna be playing forever. We're not even sure how long he'll be playing Corner. Green Bay can start developing it's new Corner to go along with Sam Shields and Tramon Williams.
97. Terrell McClain, Defensive Tackle, South Florida
Carolina needs to address the defensive tackle position multiple times. People have been intrigued about McClain ever since the East-West Shrine Game, and he has pushed his stock into late second round consideration.

Buffalo's Rush Linebacker's are terrible. Von Miller has been linked to Buffalo for quite some time now. He's at worst the 3rd player on their big board. The other two players would be Cam Newton and Marcell Dareus. Unless Buffalo decides they need to take Blaine Gabbert, then this pick is obvious.
4. AJ Green, Wide Receiver, Georgia
With T.O. likely to be moving on and Chad Johnson potentially being traded, the Bengals need to get that number one receiver for the next ten years. A.J. Green is the best receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson. Green will be the impact player on offense the Bengals are looking for.
5. Patrick Peterson, Cornerback, LSU
Unless Cam Newton were to fall, I don't think the Cardinals would take a Quarterback. Arizona would like Von Miller, but he's off the board. Arizona also has a need at Cornerback across from DRC. Patrick Peterson is the top player in this draft class, and is a once in a decade type of player. DRC and PP7 would form one of the league's scariest Cornerback duos.
6. Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Alabama
With Da'Quan Bowers' knee issues and character concerns surrounding Nick Fairley, the Browns go for a Wide Receiver. The Browns have absolutely nothing at Wide Receiver, so while this pick may be a reach, it makes a lot of sense. Robert Quinn would be the pick if they decide against taking Julio Jones.
7. Blaine Gabbert, Quarterback, Missouri
San Francisco has been looking for a franchise Quarterback ever since Steve Young retired. Gabbert has franchise Quarterback talent, but we'll have to see if he develops into that. He can sit a year behind Alex Smith (assuming he's brought back) and be ready to take over in 2012.
8. Nick Fairley, Defensive Tackle, Auburn
With the top two Quarterbacks gone, the Titans move their attention to the Defensive Line. I think Defensive End is a bigger need, but Fairley is the best player available. With Nick Fairley and Jason Jones in the middle, the Titans will have one of the top interior pass rushing duos in the league. One other note, Tennessee's new Defensive Line coach, Tracy Rocker, coached Fairley at Auburn.
9. Tyron Smith, OT, USC
Word is Dallas likes Tyron Smith a lot. Marc Colombo is a bum. Tyron Smith is the most talented Offensive Tackle in this draft. Dallas needs to get younger and better on the Offensive Line. I believe Dallas would like to trade down into the teens, but that's likely not going to happen. Cameron Jordan or J.J. Watt could also be the pick here.
10. Jake Locker, Quarterback, Washington
I've been projecting Locker to the Redskins in the second round in my last couple of mocks, but they don't want to take the chance of missing out on him. While I think Jake Locker is terrible; Mike Shanahan doesn't. There were reports last year that the Redskins might of taken Locker with the 4th pick overall last year if he came out. He still needs to sit a year or two before he even has a chance of being anything in this league. The Redskins desperately need a QB and get a guy they really like.
11. Robert Quinn, Rush Linebacker, North Carolina
With the transition to a 3-4, the Texans need that premier pass rusher to come off the edge. Robert Quinn could have potentially gone number one this year if he didn't lose the year due to suspension, and he could go as high as number five this year. If the Texans don't feel like Robert Quinn is the guy then the pick would be Aldon Smith.
12. Da'Quan Bowers, Defensive End, Clemson
Bowers will fall in the draft due to his knee issues, but not into the 20's like some people think. Minnesota needs to add another Defensive End with Ray Edwards set to leave. Minnesota would like to trade back to take Christian Ponder and collect more picks.
13. Prince Amukamara, Cornerback, Nebraska
The Lions need two things badly, a Cornerback and an Offensive Tackle. The Lions fall into a dream scenario with Amukamara falling to thirteen.
14. Corey Liuget, Defensive Tackle, Illinois
With Cliff Ryan becoming a free agent and Fred Robbins turning 34, the Rams need to find someone to help build that defense. With Chris Long emerging last season, Liuget will come in and only make the D-line better. I could also see the Rams taking Aldon Smith, but I feel Defensive Tackle is a bigger need.
15. Mike Pouncey, Offensive Guard, Florida
I'm finally off the Mark Ingram bandwagon (as just about everyone else is). I think the Dolphins will trade back in the draft, but either way Pouncey would be the pick. The interior line is arguably the Dolphins biggest need, and they get the top interior lineman in the draft.
16. Aldon Smith, Defensive End, Missouri
The Jaguars need to solve their Defensive End problem, and Smith is the guy to do it. Apart from Aaron Kampman, Jacksonville's Defensive Ends are terrible. Aldon Smith is the most talented of the Defensive Ends remaining. Jacksonville takes care of one of their top needs with this pick.
17. Cameron Jordan, Defensive End, California
The Patriots are looking for another Defensive End, and Jordan is the perfect fit. With Mike Wright and Ty Warren both coming off injuries, Jordan will be an immediate starter. The Patriots will probably trade this pick though.
18. J.J. Watt, Defensive End, Wisconsin
The Chargers need to upgrade at LE with Jacques Cesaire set to become a free agent (and not being that good in the first place). Watt is the best available 3-4 End.
19. Anthony Castonzo, Offensive Tackle, Boston College
With the Giants O-line up there in age and very injury prone they need to start rebuilding the Offensive Line. Castonzo might not start right away, but he will be the LT for the future.
20. Ryan Kerrigan, Defensive End, Purdue
The Bucs had a horrific pass rush last year and Defensive End is the number one priority. This pick could be a number of defensive ends here, but I think it'll be Ryan Kerrigan.
21. Phil Taylor, Nose Tackle, Baylor
The Chiefs haven't had a legitimate Nose Tackle since they made the transition to a 3-4. Phil Taylor is the top pure Nose Tackle in this draft and will come in and start right away. There are some character and weight concerns with Taylor, but I think he has that under control. His foot condition also won't be a problem.
22. Derek Sherrod, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi State
The Colts need some help on the Offensive Line. Sherrod offers a Tackle who is very good in pass protection, which we know is important to the Colts. Solder is the more talented player, but the Colts need someone who they are sure on.
23. Jimmy Smith, Cornerback, Colorado
The Eagles tried many options at RCB last year and none of them played well. Jimmy Smith will come in and start from day one bringing some stability to the position. The Eagles won't care about his character concerns (which are overplayed to begin with).
24. Muhammad Wilkerson, Defensive Tackle, Temple
The Saints need both a Defensive End and a Defensive Tackle, but they have needed a Defensive Tackle along side Ellis for awhile now. Muhammad Wilkerson is the best Defensive Tackle available at this spot.
25. Nate Solder, Offensive Tackle, Colorado
The Seahawks were terrible along the offensive line last season. Sean Locklear played like the bum he is and Solder will be a hige upgrade over him. With Okung and Unger coming into next season healthy, this offensive line could be really good next year.
26. Cameron Heyward, Defensive End, Ohio State
Reports are the Ravens aren't gonna pass on Heyward at 26 if he's available. Heyward would add much needed depth along the Baltimore defensive line. Baltimore will always look to entertain trades at this spot as well.
27. Gabe Carimi, Offensive Tackle, Wisconsin
Atlanta could go WR, DE, or OL at this pick. Harvey Dahl, Justin Blalock, and Tyson Clabo are all free agents. The Falcons won't be able to retain all of them. I don't think the Falcons can pass on Carimi if he falls this far.
28. Mark Ingram, Running Back, Alabama
I can't see Mark Ingram falling out of the first round, and this is the last chance the he'll go in the first.. New England will address running back some point during this draft, and they get the best running back in the draft at 28.
29. Marvin Austin, Defensive Tackle, North Carolina
With the release of Tommie Harris and Anthony Adams becoming a free agent, the Bears need some help inside. Ever since Tommie Harris' knee issues the Bears haven't had a legitimate 3-technique. Marvin Austin is the perfect fit for what Chicago is looking for. An Offensive Lineman or Jonathan Baldwin could also be the pick here.
30. Akeem Ayers, Rush Linebacker, UCLA
The Jets struggled last year getting to the QB and need some help in that area. Akeem Ayers is the one of the top players available at the position. Ayers' wasn't used that much as a pure pass rusher at UCLA, but many believe that his his best attribute.
31. Danny Watkins, Offensive Guard, Baylor
I had the Steelers taking Watkins in the second round of my last mock, but I don't think they're sold on a cornerback to take here anymore. The Steelers aren't looking for someone to develop, they're looking for immediate help along the Offensive Line. Danny Watkins provides just that.
32. Brooks Reed, Rush Linebacker, Arizona
While Green Bay has some okay pieces opposite of Clay Matthews, they could definitely upgrade. Brooks Reed is the best available Rush Linebacker. He'll take some pressure off of Clay Matthews providing some pass rush opposite of him.
Round Two
33. James Carpenter, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Alabama
With Matt Light set to hit free agency, the Patriots need to get younger and better at tackle. James Carpenter has been on the rise, and is even considered a late first rounder by some people. He can start off as the Right Tackle and move to Right Guard if Tackle doesn't work out.
34. Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback, Nevada
It's pretty much guaranteed that Buffalo is going to take a Quarterback in the second round. We're just not certain on who that guy is going to be. I think it's going to be Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick has the most upside of any of the remaining Quarterbacks available. He can sit a year behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and take over in 2012.
35. Christian Ponder, Quarterback, Florida State
The Bengals organization is finally coming to the realization that Carson Palmer isn't gonna be back, and that they need a new signal caller. The Bengals are going to a West Coast offense, and Ponder is the perfect fit for the scheme. I have a feeling someone is either gonna trade back or move up into the first to take Ponder, but I'm not predicting any trades in my mock.
36. Kyle Rudolph, Tight End, Notre Dame
McDaniels was an idiot to trade away Tony Scheffler. Now the Broncos need a Tight End. Rudolph is used to playing in a pro-style offense when he was under Weis and flourished. Only knock on him is health issues.
37. Adrian Clayborn, Defensive End, Iowa
After Wide Receiver, Defensive End is the biggest need for Cleveland. Coming into the season, Clayborn was a top ten prospect, but didn't put up the numbers this year and thus his stock dropping. His Erb's Palsy is also a concern. If he plays like he did in 2009 then this is gonna be an absolute steal for Cleveland.
38. Jabaal Sheard, Rush Linebacker, Pittsburgh
Ever since Calvin Pace went to the Jets back in 2008, the Rush Linebacker position has been a dire need for the Cardinals. Adding Patrick Peterson in the first and now Sheard here will make the pass defense much better.
39. Andy Dalton, Quarterback, TCU
The Titans biggest need is Quarterback, and Andy Dalton is one of the two remaining Quarterbacks worth taking here. With only Rusty Smith on the roster, Dalton will be asked to start right away.
40. Christian Ballard, Defensive End, Iowa
Marcus Spears and Stephen Bowen are free agents. Dallas could use someone to replace them. Ballard is a guy I have been high on ever since the Senior Bowl. I actually like Ballard more than I do Clayborn.
41. Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver, Maryland
Santana Moss is a free agent and even if he wasn't they need to improve at the WR position. Anthony Armstrong cannot be your number one. Smith isn't ready to be a number one, but the Redskins can afford to wait.
42. Aaron Williams, Cornerback/Safety, Texas
The Texans need secondary help more than any team. The Texans have a need at Free Safety and Cornerback, so the Texans can put him where they think he'll help the team most.
43. Ryan Mallett, Quarterback, Arkansas
The last of the Quarterbacks worth taking in the second round. The Vikings are heading into the season with Joe Webb and Rhett Bomar at quarterback. They need an upgrade. Ryan Mallett is the best pure passer in this draft class, but is also has huge character concerns. Minnesota really needs a Quarterback though, so they'll take the risk.
44. Benjamin Ijalana, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Villanova
After taking a Cornerback in the first, the Lions address a second need. Ijalana offers the versatility to play Tackle or Guard. The Lions are gonna need that with Gosder Cherilus coming off an injury and Jeff Backus up in age. He can start off as the Right Guard, and transition to Tackle eventually.
45. Justin Houston, Rush Linebacker, Georgia
I originally had Houston going 20 to Tampa Bay, but I dropped him here after the failed drug test. Ahmad Brooks and Parys Haralson haven't provided consistent play across from Manny Lawson. San Francisco may also look at some Cornerbacks at this spot.
46. Mikel Leshoure, Running Back, Illinois
With John Fox taking over, Denver is gonna need another Running Back. Leshoure and Moreno should provide a good 1-2 punch.
47. Jonathan Baldwin, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh
St. Louis has some nice receivers, but nothing special. Let's see what Sam Bradford can do now that he has a legitimate weapon outside.
48. Stefen Wisniewski, Center/Guard, Penn State
The Raiders need help at Center and Guard. Wisniewski can play both, though better at Center. He is very smart and has great instincts, great handwork, and very good footwork. His uncle Steve was also just hired to be the Raiders O-Line coach.
49. Rahim Moore, Safety, UCLA
Arguably the Jags top position of need is Safety. Rahim Moore is the top Safety in the draft. He'll be the starter and give some solidarity to the back end of the defense.
50. Randall Cobb, Wide Receiver, Kentucky
With Malcolm Floyd and Legadu Naanee becoming free agents, the Chargers are gonna need another receiver. Cobb is also a speed threat, which is something San Diego hasn't had at the receiver position. Cobb also has the versatility to be a Running Back, which is good with Darren Sproles likely gone. He'll help in the return game as well.
51. Brandon Harris, Cornerback, Miami (FL)
Aqib Talib is likely to be released after another off the field incident. This will also be the last year for Ronde Barber, so they're gonna need some depth. E.J. Biggers, Myron Lewis, and Brandon Harris should provide a nice secondary.
52. Mason Foster, Outside Linebacker, Washington
Keith Bulluck will be a free agent and Clint Sintim is marginal at best. Foster is a great tackler and very smart player. He'll compete with Sintim for the SLB job, and will more than likely win it.
53. Stephen Paea, Defensive Tackle, Oregon State
After Offensive Line, the Defensive Tackle position is the next biggest need. Paea would have been a first round pick if it wasn't for his injury at the Senior Bowl. This should turn out to be an absolute steal.
54. Orlando Franklin, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Miami (FL)
The Offensive Line was one of the weaknesses this season for the Eagles. Orlando Franklin is an athletic lineman who would fit well in the Eagles system.
55. Leonard Hankerson, Wide Receiver, Miami (FL)
Dwayne Bowe was the only good receiver last year for Kansas City. They need all the help they can get at receiver. Hankerson is the 3rd Wide Receiver on my big board, so I think this is an excellent pick.
56. Martez Wilson, Linebacker, Illinois
The Saints have a lot of free agent Outside Linebackers, but none of them are long term options anyways. Wilson can play be the Strongside Linebacker, or play the middle and move Vilma outside.
57. Davon House, Cornerback, New Mexico State
If Offensive Line isn't the biggest need then it's Corner. Marcus Trufant and Kelly Jennings were garbage last year. The Seahawks like big Corners and Davon House is just that at 6'1" and 200lbs.
58. Titus Young, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Alabama
With Stallworth and Houshmandzadeh set to become free agents, and Derrick Mason potentially retiring, the Ravens have a huge need at Wide Receiver. The Ravens are also looking for a speed threat and Young provides that.
59. Jerrel Jernigan, Wide Receiver, Troy
Atlanta needs to add another receiver. Specifically, a speed/slot kind of receiver. They get that here.
60. Chris Carter, Rush Linebacker, Fresno State
The Patriots didn't have much of a pass rush last season. Chris Carter has been one of the fastest rising players after an impressive combine. The Pat Hill-Bill Belichick connection also makes it seem likely this would be the pick. Considering who they have on the roster, Carter will more than likely be a starter.
61. Marcus Gilbert, Offensive Tackle, Florida
Charger fans scream in joy as Jeromey Clary becomes a free agent. Gilbert is the guy that will takeover for that bum.
62. Clint Boling, Offensive Guard, Georgia
The Bears could improve almost anywhere along that abysmal offensive line. The Bears feel that the interior line is a bigger need, and Boling is one of the top interior lineman available.
63. Ras-I Dowling, Cornerback, Virginia
The Steelers need a CB more than anything, and that showed in the Superbowl. Pittsburgh likes big Corners and Ras-I Dowling is just that. Dowling has first round talent, and some people even think he has a shot to go in the late first.
64. Will Rackley, Offensive Guard, Lehigh
The Packers don't have many needs on this team, but guard is one of them. Daryn Colledge is a free agent and is an average guard anyways. Lehigh has had a lot of momentum recently and has pushed his stock into the second round. Lehigh can start right away at Left Guard
Round Three
65. Jarvis Jenkins, Defensive Tackle, Clemson
The panthers have nothing in the interior Defensive Line. Jarvis Jenkins is one of the top players available at Defensive Tackle.
66. Ryan Williams, Running Back, Virginia Tech
Cedric Benson is a free agent, and will likely not be resigned. Bernard Scott is a good change of pace back, but not an every down runner. Ryan Williams has first round talent, so this is a great need and value pick for the Bengals.
67. Jurrell Casey, Defensive Tackle, USC
Even after taking Marcell Dareus in the first round, the Broncos still need help inside. Jurrell Casey is one of the top players available at the position. If he lives up to the preseason expectations then this could be a really good pick.
68. James Brewer, Offensive Tackle, Indiana
Buffalo hasn't had an offensive line for a few years now. They're heading into next season with Erik Pears at RT. That's not good. I think Brewer needs a year to develop, but Buffalo really needs help.
69. Marcus Cannon, Offensive Tackle/Guard, TCU
I already finished the third round by the time we found out that Marcus Cannon has lymphoma. Marcus Cannon is gonna drop into the later rounds due to this. The Cardinals will still probably take an Offensive Linemen here.
70. John Moffitt, Offensive Guard, Wisconsin
Floyd Womack is a free agent, and Cleveland could use an upgrade anyways.
71. Quan Sturdivant, Inside Linebacker, North Carolina
Keith Brooking and Bradie James are free agents after this season. The Cowboys can draft one of their replacements to pair with Sean Lee.
72. Allen Bailey, Defensive End, Miami (FL)
The Saints have a need at Defensive End. New Orleans likes big Defensive Ends and Allen Bailey is just that.
73. Kenrick Ellis, Nose Tackle, Hampton
The Texans don't have a big fat guy, and they're gonna need one with the switch to a 3-4. Kenrick Ellis is just the guy they're looking for.
74. Quinton Carter, Safety, Oklahoma
Brandon Meriweather may be going behind bars soon. The Patriots are gonna need someone to replace him.
75. Bruce Carter, Outside Linebacker, North Carolina
The Lions may have the worst Outside Linebackers in the league. Bruce Carter has first round talent, but his injury concerns push him to the third round.
76. Rodney Hudson, Offensive Guard/Center, Florida State
San Francisco didn't fare well at Center with David Bass after Eric Heitmann missed the entire season. San Francisco has bigger needs, but Hudson is too good of a prospect to pass up on. He's the 34th player on my big board.
77. Greg Jones, Linebacker, Michigan State
Tennessee didn't get productive play from the outside linebacker's last season. Greg Jones can play any 4-3 linebacker position, which is good, because Stephen Tulloch could leave in free agency.
78. Daniel Thomas, Running Back, Kansas State
Word is the Rams are looking for someone to be Steven Jackson's successor. Daniel Thomas is the best available Running Back to do that.
79. Taiwan Jones, Running Back, Eastern Washington
Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams aren't gonna be back. Jones pretty much guaranteed a second day selection with a great pro day. Jones will be one of the future Running Backs in Miami.
80. Curtis Brown, Cornerback, Texas
After Rashean Mathis, the Jaguars had too much inconsistent play at Cornerback. Jacksonville is gonna need someone to challenge Derek Cox, or replace him for that matter. Curtis Brown is a steal this late in the third.
81. Chimdi Chekwa, Cornerback, Ohio State
Crazy Al Davis likes big fast Corners. Chimdi Chekwa is just that at 6'1" and 191lbs while running a 4.38 40 time. They're gonna need him with Nnamdi moving on.
82. Dontay Moch, Rush Linebacker, Nevada
The Chargers struggled getting a pass rush opposite of Shaun Phillips. You gotta wait three years before you can declare someone a bust, but Larry English isn't looking too good. Hopefully Moch will be the guy making an impact opposite of Phillips.
83. Luke Stocker, Tight End, Tennessee
I think this pick will either be Luke Stocker or DeMarco Murray. This is a deeper Running Back class and Murray has some injury concerns. The edge goes to Stocker.
84. Colin McCarthy, Middle Linebacker, Miami (FL)
Rudd is all but gone in Tampa as he is supposedly asking for too much money. McCarthy is a very underrated prospect who will excel in the Tampa-2.
85. DeAndre McDaniel, Safety, Clemson
It doesn't appear that Quintin Mikell will be back next year. Kurt Coleman isn't gonna be the guy who replaces him. McDaniel is the next best available Safety.
86. Sam Acho, Rush Linebacker, Texas
The Chiefs didn't have another Rush Linebacker after Tamba Hali last year. Sam Acho is the best available Rush Linebacker.
87. Tyler Sash, Safety, Iowa
Bob Sanders is finally gone, and Melvin Bullitt is a free agent. Bullitt will be brought back, but he isn't a long term option at SS. The Colts could also use some depth at the Safety position.
88. Robert Sands, Safety, West Virginia
New Orleans will probably trade one of their two 3rd round picks considering they don't have another pick until the seventh round. We can't predict trades here though, so the Saints will make a project pick and take Sands. Roman Harper is a free agent, and even though he'll be brought back the Saints could upgrade over him.
89. Brandon Burton, Cornerback, Utah
The Chargers have two really good corners, but they don't have any depth behind Antoine Cason and Quentin Jammer. Burton is one of the top corners available, and addresses that depth issue.
90. Jason Pinkston, Offensive Tackle/Guard, Pittsburgh
Jared Gaither is a free agent and he may never return to what he was after a back injury. Pinkston will more than likely play Right Guard, and Marshall Yanda will be the permanent Right Tackle.
91. Kendall Hunter, Running Back, Oklahoma State
Jerious Norwood isn't gonna be back. Jason Snelling is a good backup, but not the change of pace back the Falcons are looking for. Kendall Hunter is the perfect spell back to Michael Turner.
92. Johnny Patrick, Cornerback, Louisville
Darius Butler isn't that good. Leigh Bodden is coming off a shoulder injury. Kyle Arrington should only be a nickelback. The Patriots need some cornerback depth.
93. Greg Little, Wide Receiver, North Carolina
The Bears have some good receivers, but they don't have that guy. Greg Little has that number one receiver talent that the Bears have been lacking for years.
94. Sione Fua, Nose Tackle, Stanford
Kris Jenkins is gone and they need defensive line depth anyways. Fua can anchor the middle, and allow Sione Pouha to move over to defensive end.
95. Jerrell Powe, Nose Tackle, Ole Miss
Casey Hampton is starting to regress. The Steelers need to start developing his replacement.
96. Curtis Marsh, Cornerback, Utah State
Charles Woodson isn't gonna be playing forever. We're not even sure how long he'll be playing Corner. Green Bay can start developing it's new Corner to go along with Sam Shields and Tramon Williams.
97. Terrell McClain, Defensive Tackle, South Florida
Carolina needs to address the defensive tackle position multiple times. People have been intrigued about McClain ever since the East-West Shrine Game, and he has pushed his stock into late second round consideration.
