Is it safe to say that? I mean, he is embarrassing to watch. He is so erratic and he is having a terrible season right now: three games in which his completion percentage was 40% or under. Not even under 50%... fucking 40% or under. He is the Kwame Brown of the NFL. There is no way he is anything more than a third stringer on any other team. If there is another #1 pick worse than Russell, I'd love to hear the argument for it.

Its still too early to write off JaMarcus Russell, but the signs are not good. To me what is inexcusable is that he wasn't even that good in college. He started two years...did ok his junior year and better his senior year. He might have had a strong arm and mobility, but he was a worse LSU QB than the guy he replaced (Matt Flynn).

With Russell I can't help but to think of how much of his problems are that he plays for the Raiders? Al Davis is horrible, and from the looks of it, it doesn't appear Cable or the staff around him have any clue. Maybe Davis should stop bringing in people he thinks he can push around. This isn't the 1970s where all you need is big armed QB with a fast WR. This organization is just horrible and because of that I'm not sure Russell ever has had any real chance.

I have to agree with ralaw. Russell was doomed to failure from the moment he was drafted. The Raiders situation is not ideal for grooming a Qb.
That being said he'd have a pretty difficult time succeeding anywhere else too in my opinion. He has zero accurary. It's mind blowing how bad he is at simply hitting an open receiver.
