Jason Pierre-Paul vs Aldon Smith

Make you choice and your case. Both these youngsters are terrors. I think Smith benefits, just slightly, from having beast at damn near every position in their front 7. NYGs DL is no slouch but their LB core is lacking. Smith is killing it right now with 15 sacks after last night but that doesnt make JPP any less dominate IMO.

Depends if I run a 3-4 or a 4-3. I don't feel Aldon Smith has the ability to play DE and I don't feel JPP would be as good as a 3-4 OLB

I feel like Smith would be great at DE seeing thats essentially how he lines up a good amount of the time, he isn't always standing... JPP has the athleticism to stand up, Idk who I would pick yet

Reason why this poll is so tough is because of their versatility. I think they would thrive in either scheme.

Really though these are 2 of the premier front 7 players in the league, and picking between them is tough. If a gun was pointed to my head, I would pick Smith. His sack numbers don't lie, and it is nothing against JPP I think he is a monster too.

I'm a big fan of Aldon, but you're right, he does benefit greatly from playing alongside Justin Smith on the line. The majority of his sacks come from that trap move where Justin gobbles up a double team, and Aldon sweeps inside to go to the QB untouched.

Someone said that they doubted Smith's ability in a 4-3, and I would agree with that. JPP is a better all-around player, and I think that he would do just fine in a 3-4 as an OLB. JPP just has that motor that you can't stop, and maybe that is bias from watching him more than Smith, but I would take JPP no matter the scheme.

As of right now I'd say JPP is better. But if I were to take one on the Ravens it would be Aldon for the simple fact that he fits our scheme. When JPP is on, he is like no other pass rusher we've really seen.
