Jeff Carter to the Kings for Jack Johnson and a 1st Round Pick

I don't think I like this deal for the Kings at all. Too much to give up, IMO. If it was 1-for-1 Johnson for Carter it's one thing, but giving up a draft pick in addition seems a bit much. I didn't think the Kings have that much quality in defense that they could afford to move Johnson either.

Jackets need to improve their back end, and Johnson does it. I'm of the mind that a Johnson and Carter swap is not equal at all. People know Carter wants out, taking his value down even further. I'm surprised that LA is giving up something extra, when I feel they should be getting something else back.
This works for the Kings though, at least for this year. I hope they have some solid defenders in their system, because losing Johnson, on top of Mitchell (free agent after this season) and Scuderi (free agent after next season) doesn't bode well.

I'm pissed because Johnson was a sick player for me in NHL12 while on my current 26-0 run online. Guess I'll just have to make out with what I have.

Hes on his normal pace for goals in a year. If he wasnt injured so much his stats would most likely look like they normally are which is a young centerman who scores 35+ a year.
Not really. Johnsons contract was something dumb too. 4.3 mil till 2018 I think. They only added an extra mil and will have a lot of cap space come this July when dud apples like penners 4mil deal is done.

I'd like for the Caps to somehow acquire him. Not sure who would go back- Hamrlik and Knuble come to mind as far as cap hits go (Knuble with the edge due to an expiring deal and lower number) but Brown would be a great asset on the top line paired with Ovechkin and Backstrom moving forward, and is the kind of player that Hunter would like to have.
