Jets LB Calvin Pace suspended

Jets linebacker Calvin Pace has been suspended four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances. The Jets' key defensive acquisition in the offseason, Pace will begin his suspension on Sept. 5 and return on October 5.

"This is a situation that resulted from an over-the-counter dietary supplement that contained a substance that I did not know violated the League's policy," Pace said in an statement released by the Jets. "I am responsible for what I put into my body and I should have paid closer attention to the League's guidelines. I regret that this has happened and apologize to my teammates, the entire Jets organization as well as the fans. Hopefully, this does not distract from our ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl."

The outside linebacker will be able to go through training camp with his suspension not starting until Sept. 5. He will be eligible to return on Oct. 5, following the team's game against the Saints.

Pace started all 16 games for the Jets in 2008. He had a career-high seven sacks last season, with 80 total tackles and 62 solo stops. His five fumble recoveries led the Jets.

Pace signed with the Jets last March after five seasons with the Cardinals. He signed a reported six-year, $42 million deal.

"We respect the League's decision and look forward to Calvin's return for our Monday Night game at Miami," the Jets said in a statement to reporters

No he sucks. He takes plays off and drops easy passes.

He sucks at what he is supposed to be good at and that is stretching the field and making big plays. You don't draft a tight end with a top 10 pick because of his blocking skills you can get those guys after the draft for cheap.

I wouldnt call him a bust yet. He hasnt exactly had the pieces around him yet to succeed. The 9ers have had qbs problems since he came there, and they just got a real coach in singletary last year. I will wait till he has a steady qb before i call him a bust or not.

Gin is actually getting better every season despite not having a QB who can get him the ball deep. And he actually contributes in other areas outside of offense, as he is a dangerous special teamer.
