Jets RB Joe McKnight is moving to cornerback "in a near full-time role."

This is apparently the Jets' plan to offset the loss of Darrelle Revis. "He’ll have a role on offense, but we’re also teaching him how to play corner," coach Rex Ryan said. "Not quite a full-time capacity, but he’s going to be over there a ton in the meetings and everything else. ... He has the necessary skills to be able to play corner. He’s got the speed, the size, the athleticism, the ball skills." McKnight was a star corner in high school, but that was over half a decade ago. The move speaks to both the Jets' increasingly flawed roster, and McKnight's disappointing production at running back. He's officially off the fantasy radar for good. Bilal Powell is locked in as the Jets' No. 2 back, and a major threat to Shonn Greene's workload.

It's been in transtion for a while, he played well at CB in practice and preseason. He played CB for us a couple of times and played well he's probably our 2nd best CB on the roster right now.
 
It sounds crazy but he should have been a WR/DB at USC when he committed anyway.

Once he wasn't 20x faster than every defender like he was in HS it was harder for him to do anything because he was only ever productive in space. It will be interesting to see how he fares against bigger WRs since he's got a lot of catching up to do technique wise.
 
Sounds interesting. I'll definitely be paying special attention to him. Wonder if he'll play outside or if he'll be a dime/nickel corner.

He'll likely be the nickel/dime CB...All i know is the staff doesn't seem enamored with Lankster and Isaiah Trufant, the now nickel/dime CB's.

And it's not like this will be his first time, yes he's done it in college, but he's also sparingly played some CB in NFL games before, it's just a full-time move now. Hopefully he learns quick.

Definitely. Not sure how much PT he will get this week there. Maybe a handful of snaps...likely more as a corner blitzer. But I wouldn't look into much at him playing tons of coverage yet.

McKnight isn't too happy about this but if he can think about the years this may add to his NFL career, saving the wear and tear on his body and the potential for a greater payday if he can become good at the position.
