Jason Kidd will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Cavaliers could be a fit for the veteran point guard.

"I could sit and watch from the bench," Kidd said. "[LeBron] is so talented, he's going to get guys wide open shots. So we'll look at free agency and what happens for me next year."

They will have their mid-level exception ($5 million) and their bi-annual exception ($2 million) they could use on outside free agents.

If they get Kidd, and keep most of who they have, Cavs would be better then the Celts IMO.

Williams not a true point guard. He's a 2 playing the 1.
Kidd would be a great distributor for both James and Williams.

You do not need a true PG when you have Magic Johnson/Karl Malone playing for your team. LeBron is currently manning the point as well as both forward spots. All a PG has to do in that offense is spot up and shoot.

Kidd wouldn't succeed in that offense IMO because he has no J. It's getting better later in his career but I really don't think Cleveland would want or need him, unless we're talking about locker room chemistry and leadership.

A player like Mike Bibby would be a better fit in Cleveland because he's proven he can be a spot up shooter and play with another player who dominates the ball and shoulders a lot of the passing load (Joe Johnson).

This all makes sense. I would add that if I'm Cleveland I wouldn't bring in Kidd for longer than a one-year deal, either. He's far past his prime & the Cavs are only guaranteed to have LeBron one more season at this point. No need tying up money that could go to James just to bring in an aging PG.

Cavs are fine without Kidd.

They need to give Andy V some money or sign another big guy for depth. I wouldn't worry too much about the guard position, Mo Will has got it on lock.
