"Mousasi was like my sixth or seventh fight. In the fight I tried trading with him but he was covering up from my strikes so I took his ass down. Now they say he is overrated. Simply put if he was in the UFC and I was in the UFC and that fight happened we wouldn't get that flack and we would've been all good. Some people are just groupies and they are idiots who are quick to say that someone is overrated just because they don't know shit about MMA. They may know certain things about the sport but they don't know shit about MMA. I had an argument with some dude on Twitter because he was trying to say that Fedor is overrated. I asked him how Fedor was overrated and he answered with "yeah man...he beat Arlovski who doesn't have a chin and Cro Cop whose washed up. He beat Nogueira who is washed up too." I'm like what the hell? If Fedor is overrated then what do you consider Cain Velasquez, Brock Lesnar or Frank Mir? Fedor was beating the guys who they are beating way before those guys got the chance to fight them. People love to jump on and say people are overrated when they lose. When that happens they say "ah he's no good" or "he's overrated". People don't understand that MMA is not a sprint..it's a calculated marathon. Chuck Liddell shouldn't have lost to Jeremy Horn and the next thing you know Chuck is one of the best 205 lb. fighters to ever compete in the MMA game. So what does that say about him? If that fight would have happened now people would have said Chuck was overrated. Or that he sucks and he's no good. You can't base somebody's career off a few losses. A career is judged by the overall outlook and total performance."

I read these a few days ago and I appreciate the Strikeforce guys calling a spade a spade about the media bias every now and then. King Mo is a lot more intelligent than people want to give him credit for because of his silliness. With that said, that Mousasi fight was a blatant LNP job and Mo deserved all the criticism he got for that.

Growth of the sport brings in this type of fan. Nothing we can do about it. I say this all the time in the NFL section, I say it all the time in the chatbox...we live in a era of fickle, reactionary, "snap judgement" sports fans. Win, you are a god. Lose, you are a bum.

In MMA, it actually gets magnified, and the reason is boxing. For many years, the path a highly touted boxer would take, is fight bums for a few years, carry around an unbeaten record, and not face any real comp until it was time for a title shot. Sports fans have been edjucated through boxing that the top fighters should have pretty looking records 20-0, 27-1, 18-0, 30-2, etc. Obviously MMA is a different game, where generally you are matched with similar skill level your entire career. Everyone loses, and if they fght long enough, everyone loses a lot. It's hard for sports fans brought up on boxing to wrap their minds around this.

Also, the short nature of the fights. When causals see Fedor lose in 90 seconds or Gina get wiped up by Cyborg, the reaction is always to pass off the loser as a product of hype, because boxing rarely ends that quickly or decisively. We saw this on this site after high profile fights when Brock lost quickly, and when both Gina & Fedor lost. "Fake MMA hype, when will one of these MMA fighters live up to the hype, blah blah blah". People don't understand how the sport works, they don't understand that Brock beat seasoned fighters as a novice, or that Gina was a well rounded unbeaten prodigy, or that Fedor beat the best of the best for many years.

Mo needs to stop getting in flame wars with trolls on twitter, and just concentrate on fighting. Leave the flame wars to fans.

I'm getting tired of wrestlers bringing up the 'fighting smart' card as an excuse to fight cowardly. I feel they are trying to insult our intelligence when try to pass it off under a veil of smart game planning. When it's obvious you are trying to win a match on the sole premise of 'pinning' your opponent, you should expect the boo birds because it's fucking boring. With all that said, I can't exactly fault them for 'smart fighting' when the current environment (the cage, poor judging, hesitant referees, etc.) does everything they can to encourage it.

And on the flipside, some people are being irrational about ground fights and are quick to label everything LNP, so I can least 'understand' why wrestlers are becoming defensive. Some people are calling Diaz/Stun Gun LNP. Seriously??

Mo deserves the hate he got for the Mousasi fight, not so much just for him, but for that awful fight in general by both guys. Mousasi showed absolutely nothing and Mo just took him down with ease and did little to no damage.

He isn't the only one, though, plenty of UFC fighters get blasted for the same thing (Maynard, for example) and arguably the worst fight of 2010 is Mir vs Crocop.
