'Twas the night before Kirby, when throughout the Dawg Nation
This Dawg wasn’t stirring from his computer station;
The wish list was hung by the monitor with care,
In hopes the Smart choice soon would be there;
The best fans in the world were all snug in their beds,
While visions of Championships danced in their heads;
Suddenly from UGASports there arose such a clatter,
I clicked with my mouse to see what was the matter.
Away to The Dawgvent I flew like a flash,
Opened the posts and read the pushpin from Dash.
I read of speculation and endless innuendo,
And then a list of the things Dash said we do know;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
The words that Kirby soon could be here;
But Dash didn’t confirm this was the end of the matter,
And left the door open for endless Vent chatter.
More rapid than gunfire came other names in play,
That had been rumored over the last few days;
Is Kirby Smart the man with the plan?
Could Todd Grantham be the man that we land?
Is there a third, a fourth, or a fifth candidate in play?
Could Will Muschamp be our man at the end of the day?
Then suddenly there’s a post from someone nearby,
There’s rumor of a plane to soon reach the sky,
It sat on the tarmac in Championship land,
And supposedly was there to pick up the man.
And then, in a twinkling, shrewd Dawg Venters did say,
We’ll be at the airport before night turns to day.
We’ll scope things out and be spies for the clan,
We’ll know who’s onboard, that’s our master plan.
So for hours we waited to hear from the crew,
From GADevildawgs, BlacklistedDawg, and others too.
They waited and questioned and waited some more,
To give us good news of who walked out the door;
But the plane never left championship land,
So I finally went to bed with no answer in hand.
But fear not my fellow Venters and all the Dawg fans,
Our leader Mark Richt, for sure has a plan.
We’ll know before long, and we’ll be happy, you’ll see,
We’ll have the right man to lead our hunker down "D".
Gone will be the days of our "D" being pushed around,
And throughout the land, we’ll be the talk of the town;
Excitement I believe will soon be in site,
"Happy Championships to all, and to all a good-night."
