I think baseball likes the one and done wild card scenario, and won't change it anytime soon, but if they do, how about a three game wild card series, and a five game LCS? This would be the same amount of scheduled games as we have now, and not extend the playoffs a single day.
 
Doubt it will ever happen. We saw this year what time off does a team in Detroit. Its not the first time thats happened.. im sure the MLB wants to avoid multiple teams having many days off between the end of the season and the beginning of the Divisional Series. Im sure TV also has something to do with that, they probably want those jampacked playoffs schedules ASAP aswell.

Also, depending how they plan to format it.. could be disaster for travel. 1-1-1 would be disastrous, ive heard people say in the past just play 3 games at one stadium, but that'd be a pretty rough disadvantage to one team. Neutral location perhaps? Only way I see it working out fairly. Of course in a situation like Atlanta/St.Louis many would argue STL prob didnt deserve a home game in a 3 game series anyways, but in future years whos to say the 2 wild card teams wont be much closer together in record?

I just think theres too many factors working against it for it to happen.

So what does this mean? A neutral location for a BOS/NYY game would be where? Fans would be pissed they'd have to pay for travel on top of overpriced tickets.

Last at bat seems to be the biggest part of HFA in baseball. Couldn't you just play all games at one stadium but give the visiting team "home" status for game 2? Last at-bat is really all that matters. As for it being a disadvantage, who fucking cares? The fact the 5th team has a chance to play their way into the playoffs at all is a disadvantage to the #4 team. Those fucks should be happy for any opportunity at all. Why must we ensure the worst team among the entire field is treated "fairly" to begin with? If they don't like it, they can, to quote w2b, "WIN MORE GAMES" ...
 
I would be in favor of 3WC, 5LDS, 7LCS, 7WS. I'm also in favor of chopping a month off of the season and having the playoffs in September.

Agree with that. I am also not opposed to a five game LCS either if that meant a three game WC. Going through all of the season to lose one game and you are out, I'm not a fan of that.
 
I'd rather have a 7-game LCS and a 1-game "wild card". I think the 7-game LCS will give a more "true" result as to which team is the best in that league, whereas a 5-game LCS could be flukey, especially if the scheduling is a 2-3 home/away thing. I think the 1-game wild card is unfair to the #4 seed/#1 WC, but in a way its the lesser of two evils. I'd rather screw over a wild card team than a good team playing in the LCS.
