The UFC 133 landscape has shifted once again, as Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has withdrawn from his scheduled light heavyweight contest against Rich Franklin.
UFC President Dana White announced the news Saturday via Twitter. The Octagon boss confirmed the promotion is currently seeking a replacement opponent for Franklin.
Headlined by a light heavyweight rematch between former champions Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans, UFC 133 goes down Aug. 6 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Ortiz stepped up on short notice to face Evans after Phil Davis -- who was himself an injury replacement for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones -- withdrew with a knee injury.
Nogueira , 35, recently suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his decade-long career. After beginning his UFC stint with consecutive wins, the Pride Fighting Championships veteran was outpointed by a pair of wrestlers in his next two bouts -- first to Ryan Bader at UFC 119 in September, then to Davis at UFC Fight Night 24 in March.
