Anybody have local short tracks they go to watch on the weekends? My dad used to race at New Paris and Kalamazoo Speedways and Kalamazoo is opening this weekend. He raced against some professionals like Tony Stewart, Johnny Benson, David Stremme, Ryan Newman, Ken Schrader, and some other guys. They have a 100 lap opening night thing going on tonight and I was lookin at the website and wondered if anyone here hits up racing on occasion.

I really like going but the hicks there almost make it unbearable. It makes for a fun weekend of racing and people-watching though. It's kinda expensive too.
 
Once I get my new engine put in my '86 Z28 (hopefully this summer) I'm going to take it out to the track here in Topeka for the open race nights. We have a drag strip that the NHRA uses, then attached to that we also have a 2.5 mile road course. More interested in running to road course than the drag strip.

Definitely don't have any interest in going and watching the local people race though.

I have like 6 dirt tracks within an hours drive of me. Nothing real special, but Bill Elliott lives near my hometown and runs the one in my hometown once a year. Lanier Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta are all within 2 hours of me, and an hour of my brother's house. I like dirt tracks as a spectator better but it isn't a lot of fun on dry summer nights.

I've never been to a dirt track. There is one here in Bloomington but I've never went to it. The two I normally go to are both asphalt. They run Super Outlaw Late Models, Modifieds, Street stocks, Pure stocks, and Cyber stocks. Almost every track names each of the classes differently though.

I've always wanted to go see Eldora but I've never actually gone and done it. Maybe some day.
