Marseille striker Loic Remy has completed an £8m move to QPR, with his France team-mate Yann M'Vila expected to follow him to Loftus Road in a £7m deal.
Remy has agreed a four-and-a-half year contract in a move the club have described as a "club record fee".
The pair will provide a huge boost for QPR, who currently occupy bottom place in the Premier League and at five point from safety, are in serious danger of relegation from the Premier League.
While the £15m outlay may seem extreme for a side that could be playing in the Championship next season, manager Harry Redknapp claims Remy had been valued at £20m and M'Vila £28m in recent seasons, meaning QPR are securing a bargain.
The R's boss has been eager to praise the involvement of QPR owner Tony Fernandes in securing the transfer for Remy.
"I'd given up to be honest. The chairman Tony Fernandes did it to be honest, not me," Redknapp said following his side's FA Cup victory over West Brom.
"I went over to Marseille last week and he (Remy) wasn't keen, I don't think. I did speak to him about a couple of players we were looking to bring in.
"He was excited by that and then the chairman worked ever so hard. He wouldn't give up on it and Remy decided he wanted to come.
"I watched him so many times when I was at Tottenham. The fee then was around about £20m. He's a good buy for us.
"He's quick, a French international, his movement is excellent and he has the potential to be a real star in the Premier League.
"Newcastle United wanted him and [their chief scout] Graham Carr doesn't make too many mistakes. Graham's got good judgement."
Newcastle are reportedly hugely frustrated at missing out on Remy who was seen as the ideal replacement for Demba Ba who departed for Chelsea.
Speaking about the move, Remy told QPR's website: “Harry played a big part in me coming here. I spoke to him and Tony Fernandes at length and they made it clear they wanted me here. They gave me the right motivation to join QPR.
“I want to develop my game here. This season the objective is to stay up but beyond that we have greater objectives.
“After seven years in France, this is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League – the best League in the world.
“I am confident I can adapt to the Premier League. My main characteristics have taken me to the level I am at today but I am keen to keep improving in the Premier League.”
As well as Remy, who will wear the number 18 shirt, Redknapp also expects QPR to sign Rennes midfielder M'Vila.
"I also liked M'Vila when I was at Tottenham," Redknapp said last night.
"He's 22, played against England a couple of years ago for France, and was fantastic.
"Arsenal and Spurs made offers for him. I promise you that. They (Rennes) turned down £28m from an English club for him a year ago.
"Spurs offered £15million for him in August. The deal looks okay.
"M'Vila's had a few problems off the field problems. If he behaves himself, and plays as we know he can, he'll do well."
Redknapp is still hopeful of signing Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore on loan but says he is unlikely to renew his interest in West Brom duo Jonas Olsson and Peter Odemwingie.
Redknapp also confirmed he will allow striker Djibril Cisse to leave during the January transfer window.

Remy has been pretty bad lately, only 1 goal in 14 matches. 'Arry better hope he finds form quickly.

As for M'Vila, I'm shocked that at only 7 million no one else tried to match that bid. He has been a bit like a petulant child lately, but I still think he'll be a good buy for QPR at that price.

Said it ij the other thread. Its a very cheap price for someone who not so long ago was a hot piece of ass everyone wanted. He was acting like a child for long enough now because he wanted to leave.

Why nobody else matched that price is beyond me. 7 mil? Fuck me....United could have thrown Rennes that.

Pretty sure M'Vila had a couple of significant off-field concerns that likely scared bigger clubs away. And it hasn't helped that his performances for Rennes have apparently fallen off over the past 18 months.
 
Everton is still in the mix for M'Vila.

Queens Park Rangers are still working on a deal to bring Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila to the club this month as Premier League rivals Everton monitor the situation.

The 22-year-old France international has been widely tipped to join Rangers before the January transfer window closes, but David Moyes may yet make a move for M'Vila.

QPR secured the services of M'Vila's international team-mate Loic Remy from Marseille after the striker opted to move to Loftus Road over Newcastle.

But Moyes is considering a loan move for M'Vila, with a view to a permanent switch in the summer.

Rennes are hoping for a total of £10million for the defensive midfielder. Everton may seek to spread the cost until summer, but this would take a considerable chunk out of Moyes' modest transfer fund for next season.
