You're kidding, right? Last year I tore my meniscus in my right knee. This year I sprained my MCL. Not the same thing at all. They specifically told me when I had the MRI for the last injury that "There are no new TEARS". Again, not the same thing at all.

A sprain will require rest and then eventually PT to get it back into shape. Most tears require surgery.

Dont chase the PA/MA negros.....just shoot

It's not about realizing I was wrong. It's what most people's conceptions are of the injury. When someone says a "tear" they immediately think it;s something more serious. It's more confusing than anything. I just tried to simplify the post. But I still stand by statement that a ligament "sprain" and "tear" are not the same thing.

I also never said YOU said he needed surgery, but a "tear" does require surgery, in most cases. So when you state that he tore two ligaments 99% of the people here would assume that the injury was more serious and required surgery.

Most people are stupid, or a better word to describe them would be ignorant. But most people have not been exposed to those types of injuries either. Hell, before I tore my meniscus last year I had never sustained any type of "serious" injury that required any kind of surgery...in my life. And before that I probably wouldn't have know that a ligament "sprain" is actually a tear.

Perhaps...personally my basketball career was basically cut short/ended because of ankle ligament sprain/tear issues so I became well acquainted with them...more than i would have liked to as a 17/18 year old.

I remember when I was around 15 or so I was playing hoops in the driveway with my cousin. I went up to block his shot and he pump faked the shit out of me. I cam down on the side of my left foot and heard a pop. I had sprained my ankle numerous time, mostly while playing b-ball, but had never felt this kind of pain before. It swelled to the size of a softball. My uncle took me to the ER and ultimately they told me it was a "really bad sprain". They may have elaborated but that's all I remember them saying. They also said if I had broken my ankle I actually would've been in better shape. I'm guessing that I had actually torn ligaments in my ankle at that time but it was actually still considered a really bad sprain.

As for the OT, yes, the Bears are morons. Sprain, tear, whatever, playing their starters in a total meaningless game is beyond stupid. They had nothing to gain and actually had more to lose, like you pointed out with the draft pick, if they won. Didn't they learn anything from Adrian Petersons' injury?

I had sprained them so badly junior year and freshman year that I almost puked.

The last time I fucked my ankle up my senior season the PT told me that the good news was that my ankles were pretty much all scar tissue at this point so I wasn't really doing any damage to the ligaments anymore. Just re-spraining/re-tearing scar tissue.

Maybe play him for a bit then take him out if anything.

One could argue that they should have been looking at younger players with this game but with Angelo's shity drafts there are no younger players to take a look at as the team has no depth.
